7000 light show when rings??

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

In all my browsing - I've read a few reviews of people complaining that when the 7000 rings for an incoming call, it flashes all sort of colors. Can someone be more specific as to what they mean??? The color pink was mentioned??? When my 6100 rings, it flashes red and green alternately on one little spot (the camera flash I believe).

I STILL can't decide which phone to get - does anyone have a pick for whatever your own particular reason is?? I'm open to a poll now and will just pick the winner from that!!!! lol Reps at Verizon looked at me like I was nuts for wanting to exchange my 6100 for a 7000. So does my husband. So does the Best Buy cell phone rep......

Thanks in advance

if you get the 7000 you wont be disapointed. the reps at verizon talked me into getting the 6100 and after a day i was disapointed with it and exchanged it for the 7000. its the best phone i ever owned!

plus the flashing lights arent so bad

ha ha - you are leaving me hanging!!! I MUST ask why you exchanged please and can you be specific about the lights when it rings? Is it a bunch of colors?????

Keep in mind, I will not access any media stuff with this phone. I do like to use the pics I take on my camera as wallpaper and ringer ID. That's about it. I wont' be importing any info to and from a PC on it!! I'm a crazy at home mom with no time!!!!

There is an LED where the flash is above the outer display.

When the phone rings, it will flash all sorts of colors. I think it's cool. Others hate it.

I think it does about six colors. You cannot turn this off, for some strange reason.

well i exchanged it cause to me the 7000 felt better in the hand and i think it looks awesome. photo quality is good and the video feature is pretty cool.

the colors are blue, green, white and a couple others when it rings. its neat in my opinion

but remember if you need a trimode phone, stay with the 6100. thats one of the reasons why i first went with the 6100 but verizon has very little analog here (nyc area) so im ok, and when i travel it looks like im not in the analog areas on the map. but if you want to spend a more for a phone that looks good and not use all the features you can get out of it, then go for it!

It's a$30 difference for me (7000 being more). It's not so much the money - its the reviews that I go on. Frankly, the 6100 has more bad reviews even though I think it has more handy features. I've 18 miles north of NYC so I don't think analog is big deal to me. I don't travel either. I'm just trying to go with a quality phone and have buyers remorse. I found the 7000 easier to hold, access certain buttons but the 6100 seemed more user friendly (i.e taking you to links such as the gallery -pics taken on your camera). Anything other than picture ID, ringer ID adn voice acitvation is gravy to me.

Thanks for all your explanations - can I bother you for one more? In one of the 7000 specs it says it does not have photo ID but many users says it does. Can you see a photo ID on the external ID before flipping open to answer? That would be more helpful to me than things like digit dial!!! Thansk again

It has picture ID on it and its pretty good. The picture pops up on the outside, then when you open it up the picture stays on the screen unlike most phones I've used with that feature that the picture just dissapears.

I have to say I think this is one of the best, coolest phones ever. It is also really comfortable when you talk on it since it's a little bigger. It fits most peoples faces better.

If you don't need analog or speakerphone, get the 7000. I traded my 6100 for the 7000 and have no regrets. IMHO, it is a better phone.

My audiovox 9900 just died and i switched it out for a vx7000 and it is a great phone. i would recommend it

Thanks everyone - I am going to deal with all the eyebrow raising at Verizon and switch out the phone. Basically - it's more comfortable for me to hold/navigate. As I said, all the reps think I am nuts for switching!!!!!!!!!

Hello, I also just got the LG VX7000 phone and from what everyone says, I made a great choice.actually I bought 2 of them, one for me and wife.she loves it also. The flashing lights when phone ring's in my opinion are great, especially if you were in your car or something with radio loud, you will see lights flashing, knowing there is a call coming in, as were if the stereo were too loud, you may have not heard it ring, then again you could always use "VIBRATE" mode. The picture ID is a nice feature also, along with the caller ID. The size of the phone is great as far as when, the ear piece is at you ear, the microphone just about makes it to your mouth, feeling more natural, like a regular house phone, instead of second guessing yourself, wondering if your speaking close enough to the microphone or not, so that you know others are hearing you.The user interface is very easy to learn after a few days you'll know how to access all the options with ease, like, retrieving missed call's, voice mail's, etc.etc. making calls is easy also, just hit the right soft key, then scroll to the contact you want to call, then hit send, or you could also use the voice dialing thing, but i have never used that yet, as the first way I said is just as easy to me. as far as the picture's taken: picture's in daylight come out very good, just make sure you try and hold camera still while taking picture, picture's in dark area's, come out rather dark. you can also record 15 second video clip's, which is kinda cool.
I would also recommend getting the USB DATA cable from EBAY,and also get BITPIM program (free) or QSPT PROGRAM (free) for transfering and editing data on the phone from your PC. I paid 3.77 plus 5.99 shipping for My data cable off ebay from EBAYER NAMED "everydaysource" and it works and fits great, you will also need to download driver's for cable, instead of using the driver's on the disk that comes with the cable. ALL the help you need can be found in this forum, if you search enough for it.

Have a good day!!!!

don't know much about the 6100...but the 7000 is def. the best phone i've ever owned (although i still miss my ericsson T28 world )...and yes, the lightshow is pretty cool, it makes me feel like i'm at webster hall everytime someone calls me.

I just wish they'd add an option to turn the **** flashing lights off. How complicated could it be?
