Need help changing ringtone for LG 1300

I can download ringtones and midi's as well as listen to them from "my media" or "sounds" but when I select them for "set as ringtone" they never work. I have even tried selecting a different default ringtone but an incoming call always uses the one the phone started with. Is there a security setting in place or does this phone have a malfunctioning problem?

Any help would be appreciated!

EDIT: For anyone needing future help with this issue :rollseyes:

Afterthought came to me and it turned out to be the gruop settings. Numbers within the contact list can be set with different ringtones so if no one other than the people on your contact list call you, you might not know to change the group ringtone as well.
