7100 Message LED

Hello

A quick question on the 7100(g) - Has anyone noticed that the message LED seems to turn off after about 5 minutes or so?

I have my unit set to not flash green - and have indicated in my profiles that the LED should flash (red) when I get various messages. Well, it does flash red when a message comes in, but it seems like it stops flashing after about 5 minutes (or so) - this happens even when I don't touch the bb after the message comes in???

Just wondering if I am doing something wrong or is that the way it is supposed to function
thanks

Pretty sure mine does the same ..

Actually

it sees like the red light flash lasts 15 minutes --- seems like that should be longer or something that we could adjust ??

mine does the same, i don't know if you can or can't change it yet, i just look at the screen and see if there are any messages.

mine (7100G) does not have that problem. I have gotten messages (email) in the middle of the night and still have a blinking red when I wake. I have not changed any of the setting from the defualt.

Hope this helps... in some way.

actually to think of it, i have had messages come in the middle of the night and it still takes off the light.

the only difference when the light isn't on is when i actually download my email in outlook, hm.. i wonder if that is it, i am gonna test this theory and let you know.

AFAIK, mine stays red until I read the message but I don't usually read messages that are more than 15 mins old. I turn my BB off at night too so that doesn't help.

Not so for me. I notice that the LED is always blinking green when I wake up whether I have zero, 3, or 15 messages.

Uh - isn't that just telling you that you have coverage? On the 7100G, the green light has nothing to do with messages - it's the red that indicates new messages. I'm assuming its the same way on the 7100t.

Right, but the LED switches to red after I get a message. After some set amount of time (I have not checked it out) it seems the LED reverts back to green even when there are unread messages.

I have the LED turned off -- it only blinks (red) if I have a message.

There have been other discussions on this subject, but basically, the red LED shuts off after some indeterminable amount of time because the unread message is no longer "new." No, it does not make sense but that's the way it is. Nothing you can do about it at this point.
