How do I get mp3'z to repeat when they are a ringer?

Well here is the issue, I take an mp3 and cut it down in Goldwave to the 10-15 seconds I want as a ringer. I re encode with the lame plugin for goldwave to 22khz, ~96 kbit mono and use bitpim .75 to send it to the phone as a regular mp3 (not as a renamed midi like you had to do before)

The thing is, when my phone rings, it plays the mp3 once and not over and over again like it does to the custom MIDI's I create with anvil studio.

What could be the problem?

I dont know if this could help you, but I have the program DataPilot (www.DataPilot.com) it comes with cables for the VX6000 and you can transfer the mp3 ringtones that way and they do repeat as a ringer. The only thing that isnt good about this program is that its not free.
Other than that, I like it and its easy to use. Hope I helped a bit!

I recall something about changing the file extension to get an mp3 to repeat. I think it needed to be changed to .qcp or something like that.

Yep, just change the MP3 extension to QCP.

Or, while in the audio editting program, just take the sliced section of song and copy it over and over again on the same track line.
