Is there anyway to keep the sound off when tapping screen?? Like I said in the Subject line. I go to "Preferences", then "Sounds & Alerts", then "General", "Tones"...select "Off".
It stays off for a while(when I'm tapping/scrolling on the screen). But eventually it comes back(its still quiet, but audible none-the-less).
Anyone else had this situation?? Any ways to get sound to stay "Off"??

The same thing happens with mine (Cingular branded). I can't turn it off. It's very subtle but still there.

Same here with unlocked version.
Very buggy device.

...an alternative fix for this. I put the "General" volume at 1. You can't hear it at all, and so far it seems to be staying at 1, which is essentially silent(on mine at least).

...at least so far...
After turning general sound off, get out of that menu and do a "Soft" reset. Did it yesterday, and sound has been off since

On my device, RealPlayer is the source of this bug. After using RealPlayer, it always returns to level 1 or 2 without updating the option drop-down.

...I think my bug is the same. I've narrowed it down to Real Player, and I think there is one more, that I haven't pin-pointed yet.

Figured out how to turn "general sound" off properly.
Home screen-sounds-application (use drop down to "general) then instead of turning "system volume to OFF 1st, turn "Game volume" OFF 1st, then turn "system volume" OFF 2nd.
Weird, but it seems to have done the trick for me at least.

I'll try whatever
