e1000 flash/flex

ok ive got my e1000 finally. its a great phone but one problem. i have a reception problem when using my tmobile sim. the phones unlocked but i have a problem when its switched between 2g and 3g mode. when it goes 2g>3g its fine. but when it changes 3g>2g i lose reception completely.
i tried using my o2 sim in it and it works great no problem. constantly stays at 2.5g.
ive looked around and have been told that i need to change the network band setting on my phone to 900/1800. but i dont have this option because my phone is 3 branded. anyone know a solution to this. or even a flash or flex to make my phone unbranded and enable this option.
