Pondering TM200 Purchase

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

There are threads everwhere after searching about the TM200 but I get a little confused so in a one stop shopping thread I wanted to ask some questions.

Is active flip available on this phone anywhere either out of the box or after software modification?

Can I change the WAP/MMS/Email settings to T-Mobile USA (my provider)?

Picture caller ID? What about on outside display?

Speakerphone is on here, right?

WAV (SMAF/MMF) ringtones are on here right?

Bluetooth restrictions?

Can I load games or apps like Req Webviewer via WAP (java applications)? I'd be also interested in a program for reminders with alerts since this is lacking in the calendar on the TM200.

Battery life, reception, quality?

I live in Chicago....whats a good place/way to buy it? I dont like buying on Ebay.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

www.welectronics.com has the phone on their website and their store is located on Devon and Western on the north side.

yeah ive seen that site $700?????

thanks for the suggestion though. . .i may try their brick and mortar store and see if i can get a good price being a tmobile employee.

is this the same store as Hi Fi at devon and western or different?

I get steep discounts at Hi Fi cuz of all the customers I send up there from my store (since tmo directly doesnt sell unlocked phones). In may 2004 I got a nokia 6230 for 325 back when it was over 400 on many ebay auctions.

its different than hi fi and you can get a better price if you pay in cash. The last time I was there, they didn't have the TM200 despite it being on their site so I dunno if that has changed. I'm assuming hi fi doesn't sell the phone since you are looking for a place to buy it

yeah they didnt have it at hi fi last i checked. ill try again. there's also one at 8 w. ohio st downtown but they give less deals.

I have mines set up and browsing is a pleasure on the big QVGA screen

Picture caller ID? What about on outside display?

I believe both screens have the options, they sure are there but i haven't tried them yet.

Speakerphone is on here, right?

Yup but mine makes the other party hear an echo, maybe i got a buggy unit? who knows.

WAV (SMAF/MMF) ringtones are on here right?

I dont know about WAV " haven't tried it but the other 2 are possible.

Bluetooth restrictions?

I believe all sharp phones have it except the GX25 which doesn't have expandable memory, " stupid sharp ".

Can I load games or apps like Req Webviewer via WAP (java applications)? I'd be also interested in a program for reminders with alerts since this is lacking in the calendar on the TM200.

I haven't been able to download JAVA's period, atleast i don't know how to yet but others say via wap, everytime i've tried it it says memory low......?

Battery life, reception, quality?

Being a 2MP phone it drains the battery depending on how you use that/those features of it but for regular use it should be pretty descent. Reception has been great for me in NYC with it. I'm on T-Mobile. Quality is also good but all sharp phones have low earpiece volumes.

I live in Chicago....whats a good place/way to buy it? I dont like buying on Ebay.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tigerdirect.com or No-air-time.com are 2 good websites to purchase them at a reasonable price instead of the $700.00 and $999.99 price tags i've seen online.
