Help: How to Backup Firmware

Using.....
Phone: Motorola V3
Firmware: R374.G.0E.40.3DR
Phone Status: Unlocked

I need help, I want to upgrade my firmware but before I do, I want to backup my existing firmware just incase I dont like the upgrade. The only problem is, I have no idea how to do this.

I downloaded the program MotoSmart but agian, I dont know what to do.
(I also have P2Ktools, PST 6.7 gen(patched), and mobile PhoneTools if that helps)

So I have a couple of questions...

How and what do I use to backup firmware? (please give step-by-step if possible)

Also, any recs on what firmware I should update to?

Backing up Firmware

Go to
MotoModders.net, and you'll find How-to Flash/Flex instruction in Knowledge Base section of the site.

There are 5 V3 Monster Flash files available for download.
Take a look at my sig.

That link is pretty outdated. You can use Motokit to backup a flex.

i am backing up my phone as we speak and i will update it later toady (hopefully if i dont chicken out)

check this post everyonce and a while tho b/c more than likely, if i try the update, i wont know what to do...........lol

The question is "Backing up Firmware" not "Flex"
