Nextel 7520 vs Verison 7250

My companies contract is up with Nextel so we are looking at other services. I am the only BB user (7510) and I was very upset to hear about a possible switch so I got involved with the process so I could sway the vote.

I have not had any problems with service but others have had many dropped calls. I was looking forward to upgrading to the 7520.

Met with Verison yesterday and their coverage plan seems great and there is money to save with the free IN calls. It looks like it makes financial sense to switch to Verison.

7250 cons for me:
No speaker phone.
No PTT (oach!).
No voice activated dial.

Any opinions about service or phone differences?

Gordon

The good news is that the Verizon 7250 is a very nice device, and it will at least be better than the 7510 in the respect of having many of the same features of the Nextel 7520 (32meg, Bluetooth, faster performance, TCP/IP stack, better thumb keyboard, etc).

Another thing is that someone commented the web browser on the Verizon 7250 is faster than the web browser on the Nextel 7520, so that is another thing to look forward to.

Coverage by Verizon is reported to be very good, so that is another plus for Verizon.

Battery life is probably similiar for both the 7250 and the 7520.... i.e. much worse than the 7290 (GSM/GPRS BlackBerries tend to last a lot longer).

Out of curiousity, does Verizon have a subscriber-based voice dialing service? A service that requires you to dial a voice dial service, and a remote system would do the voice dialing for you? Cingular has such a system, and it could be easily assigned to a speeddial button.

Subscriber-Based voice dialing. I will have to check into that. I knew if anyone had good info it would be you Mark.

Life is all about comprimise isn't it...

Thanks for the quick reply.

The nextel BB's don't have mo-sms enabled. This means you can't respond to an SMS directly using the BB. You have to go to a web interface.

This is the only reason I don't have one.
