I'm just wondering where did you guys buy your USB Data cable from? I'm planning to buy one for my VX8000, but I want to get a good reliable one that won't damage my phone (I love this phone).

I was looking at EBay and I don't see many choices. Currently there are only 2 or 3 types available on EBay. One of which looks very generic which I don't really trust..

I've also heard that some of the cables sold have 3 grooves rather than the 2 grooves that was designed for the VX7000/VX8000.

Any links would be greatly appreciated. (EBay isn't the only option for my purchase.. just want a good cable with recharging capibility)

Radio shack does not carry the datacable for the 6100, 7000, and 8000 they only have the data cable for the 6000 which has to be force fit.

I know cause I went down there and they told me no rat-shacks have em.

I went with the first one you listed but ordered from the guys website. I have not tested it yet.

I got a program called DataPilot (www.DataPilot.com) and it works great! It also lets you put mp3 ringtones on the VX8000. Has a bunch of things you can do. The only bad thing is that its a bit pricy. Over all its pretty worth it.

ya i got the vx6000 cord at radio shack. as for force fit? i dont know what ur talkin about cuz mine works fine, always has. didnt have to force or rape anything.

I have the same cable + drivers. I didnt purchase it from this guy, but I did get it from ebay. It works perfectly. I have zero problems, and the fit is perfect. The connector for the 7000 is the exact same as the 8000.

Thanks.. Well I'm going to look out for a 7000 series.

About the force fit.. 6000 does have to force fit into a 7000 or 8000 since it has 3 grooves and the 7000/8000 have 2 groves. It will work the same from my understanding, but would put a little stress on your phone's connector. Taking a file probably would solve this problem (file the cord, not the phone!)

As far as the force fit goes. Its because the three grooves. They just dont line up properly. Three grooves centered, instead of two grooves centered. Just get the 6100/7000 cable.

You mean ebay stores or regular stores? If you're talking about retail stores then the easiest one that comes into mind is Radio Shack. Get the VX7000 cable.

eBay.. just do a search for VX8000 USB Cable. Make sure they talk about the 2 grooves. I know a seller dwoodsz sells the cable with the 2 grooves. He shows pictures of it. I just bought one from him a few days ago.. still waiting for it to come in. Since the cable for the VX8000 is a hot selling item, the sellers tend to do a 1 day sale or a 3 day sale so you have to check every day. I did a buy it now so I wouldn't deal with the hassle of saving $4 and hope I don't get outbidded. I don't trust the 0.74 cent sellers.. though they may be legit. just have a bad feel to them.

I bougt this cable from the same seller. It works great and it only cost about $10. All you have to do is plug your phone in, direct the driver installation thing to the cd that is included and then you'll be able to start using BitPim.

That's great to hear.. Definitely encouraging me that I bought from the right person on eBay

Can't wait to try it out. Hope it comes in the next couple of days. I want some mp3s on my phone.
