?

I too have tmobile and many different smartphones. I only have the t-zones plan at 4.99 and I have no trouble getting the internet, IE, Imap email etc. My ? is the other day I inputed the T-mobile wap settings into my friends Dash who pays for no internet charges. No web, no t-zones nothing. His dash went right out to the internet and starting working fine, so did aim and imap email with profimail. ? Will my friend get data charges from T-mobile. Should he even bother to start paying for t-zones. I thought You needed at least T-zones to steal internet, does t-zones stop you from getting data charges. I know on cingular if you enter in the right data setting and dont have a plan they wack you with a giant bill.

Can anyone give me the best advice to pass onto my friend.

Oh and edge was working well with the dash too. Really nice and fast. overall the dash is a great phone. I got one from a cell vendor for my GF for $100 at NJ garden state mall !!!

I've experienced a similar thing with my Dash. I set up DirectPush email from Mail2Web, and was getting and sending email over open Wifi and also USB. Then while having lunch the other day, I received a couple of email. WIFi was disabled. I'm also concerned about getting charged for this.

Thoughts?

If you have a data plan you will only be charged your data rate plan, if not consider it a gift as you wont see a per kb charge from Tmo for data use.

Try looking in the Dash FAQ thread in the Windows section of the T-mobile forum. That might help you a bit more. I believe the step by step tutorial is on the first page(s).

T-Mobile has recently messed up the data plans, you might not be able to get full access at all with the $5.99 plan.

Posted by: Mike Mercury

this is a long thread !!!

If it helps anybody, my T-Mo Dash (purchased directly from T-Mo) accessed the internet right out of the box. I didn't setup or change anything.

I am a vetern T-Mobile customer and already had the T-MoWeb plan for my Razr.

Posted by: Phamine

T-zones :

I followed the guide to a tee.

I always have to login to get into tzones? Is there a way to get directly into tzones bypassing the login screen?

Maybe i'm using the wrong wap address?

Posted by: fersure

Using these settings, I'm able to, with the $5.99 plan, access all (that I've tried) web pages and send/receive POP3 email. However, I've not been able to customize the My.Tmobile homepage so it shows MyMovies, MyWeather, etc.

On my PC, I've gone to the My T-Mobile/Communication Tools site and then on the Homepage Categories page I am able to get the appropriate Movies and Weather (etc) to display. However, when I use the My T-mobile Favorite on my Dash it takes me to a page (after login) that only displays MyAccount type stuff.

And when I go to the T-Zones page (by pressing the T-Zones key on the Dash) the page displayed only shows three links (My-Account, T-Mobile Help, and Messaging).

I thought I was missing some setting so I called TMo support and was connected to a Dash specialist. He said the reason that I was only getting the three links on the T-Zones page was because I was using a Dash with WM5. He said that this prob would be fixed when WM6 was released (mid-May?).

Am I being jerked around or is there a way that the MyMovies, MyWeather, etc. can be displayed on the My T-Mobile web site (https://my.t-mobile.com/pda/login) in the browser or by pressing the T-Zones key.

Posted by: viejagloria

i dunno, man, i just put WM6 on my dash and WinWAP points to wap.t-zones.com and gives me a connection error .

Posted by: viejagloria

i love it when i get to make a liar out of myself . i opened up t-zones just now and received a full list of links:

1) go to t-mobileweb

2) my account

3) hot picks

4) music & sounds

5) games

6) wallpaper

7) messaging

8) web & applications

9) 411 & more

the games menu is not available: it gives an "unsupported device" error . still, i'm encouraged to see a full list of options here .

How do I correct this?

Edit: Looks like ##21# worked.

I have an ipaq 6315 with tzones ($5.99). Does anyone how to configure the settings to make the WAP internet work? Any help would be appreciated. I tried to follow the instructions on page 1, but the ipaq has different menus, kinda confusing. Thanks in advance.

Posted by: namjasohn

Does anyone have the T-zones settings for the Treo 750v? I had the settings before but my internet stopped working becuase I heard that T-mobile now requires the customers to buy the internet data plans to acces internet. Did anyone else experience the same problem?

Posted by: stunna7516

I followed these settings exactly for my dash and I cant connect in IE, AIM, or Opera. Wi-fi does work, however.

Posted by: stunna7516

Oh yeah, and that is with wap sites or standard www, and I have the 5.99 plan.

Posted by: hilz

Just dumped my dash and picked up a htc touch-
I cant figure out to get email working or the settings-
does anyone know??
Thanks

So does anyone have a sure-fire way to access full internet and email with the $5.99 T-Zones package? $29.99/month is a little steep... unfortunately the only two options they give us for internet is $30/month unlimited or nothing at all

Posted by: Tori26

I tried doing this to my T-mobile dash last night, and the only thing that I received from it is that I couldn't sync. For the life of me...I couldn't Sync my phone after trying this. I even consulted help from the T-mobile techs, and the end result was.....I HAD TO DO A MASTER RESET on my phone.

Yeah, it's highway robbery. I'll switch carriers as soon as I find one that has full internet for a reasonable price and is not SBC/AT&T, etc...

Sprint. $15, no ports blocked.

Can someone please help me setup my HTC Touch with these settings? I don't have the same screens and I have tried multiple searches on this but nothing yet. Your advice is GREATLY appreciated as I am hopelessly lost.

I followed the directions and the only way I can get it to work is if I go to connection manager and turn off the data connection. Once I do that then I can connect with no issues. Does anyone know why? I would love not having to go in there everytime I want to play online and turn it off first.

Thanks.

Are you talking about switching between wifi and t-zones?

No I am not. I have not used the Wifi for a while now. I will try to get on using IE, it sits at connecting. I will go to connection manager, turn off data connection. Then go back to IE and now it can get to pages.

I have T mobile dash and I could check my Yahoo email with the 5.99 T mobile web plan but for the last couple of months I haven't been able to do that and every time I try any website where I have to put a user name and password (yahoo mail, Gmail etc) its gives me an error saying that I typed in the incorrect user name or password. Has anyone else experienced this or can anyone tell me the solution to this. I have windows mobile 6 .
Thanks

Thanks dupasquier!
This is a 3 year old post and still relevant to today's smartphones.
I just got the internet working on an unlocked Samsung i320 with the $5.99 T-Mobile web plan.
This phone has a WAP browser also, besides the IE and it works awesome for checking your account info on t-zones.

Posted by: sfdteam

Thank you! Very useful info indeed! Better than spending time on phone with T-Mobile support staff.

OK, well I'm positive that I don't have the 29.99 Internet plan, nor the 5.99 T-Zones web plan, but I entered in these settings,

ok first of all both of you guys that posted settings, they will work for the older versions. Good job for that cuz of the million tmobile phones I used that on!

Here are the settings for WM6

I know you shouldnt need to GPRS accounts but for some reason on certain WM6 phones it ONLY works with both, doesnt matter if you have one or the other it wont work unless you have both (on certain phones), mine as well just put it all in, wont hurt anyway"

ne people with comments on this reply back, id like to hear how its workin for all you out there!

P.S., this was all tested on 4 different t-mobile dash phones

and then when I used my Internet Explorer, I was connected to the internet. I had wifi turned off so it wasn't that, and my phone wasn't connected via usb. Is the 5.99 T-zones web plan the one that lets you have T-zones in general? Like to download ringtones or wallpaper and stuff because I have that, but Idk about the T-mobile web. And does putting in those settings automatically give you the plan or something and now I have 5.99 put on my bill, or will i all of a sudden have a huge $$ on my bill at the end of the month? I just want to know if I'm getting charged with this at all, or by the mb or something

again, i never signed up for the 5.99 or 19.99 t-mobile internet service.
Also, when I first did it, it worked for about an hour, then quit on me and didn't start working for about 2 weeks. las nite was when it started working again and has been working since.

Please reply!

Posted by: Tori26

I've tried that and it didn't work for me. Possibly because I have a Wing, and it doesn't quite have the same settings. Is it possible you do a rerun...but using a T-mo Wing instead?

Thanks

i have that same problem, and when i created the email section on gprs like the above post mentioned that didn't work either. does anybody know a setting that will allow for full internet access & email working properly on the $5.99 plan. i'm not concerned about t-zones i just want to browse the web and have my email work.

edit: i'm using the dash with 6.0 btw

Posted by: AdamsvillE

ok i found something that allows my tmobile dash using wm6 to work with the $5.99 plan. my IE has full access & i can recieve my emails and tzones work.

Windows Mobile 6 T-MobileWeb (t-zones) Instructions:
1. In Settings/Connections/GPRS/T-Mobile Data:
Tmobile Data Connects to: WAPNetwork
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com

2. Add a 2nd GPRS option:
T-Mobile Data 2
Connects to: Work
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com

3. Then create TWO Proxies:
Settings/Connections/Proxy

First Proxy:
Name:Tzones Proxy
Connects from: WAP Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP

Second Proxy:
Name Tzones Proxy 2
Connects from: Work
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP

4. In connections, click menu, then advance and set ALL connections to AUTOMATIC

5. To get the Exchange Server working:
(Exchange Server settings)
Options/Advanced
Connection: Internet

6. To get Pop mail accounts working:
(This will need to be done for each account you have)
Options/Account settings/Advanced Server Settings
Network Connection: Work
NOTE! The option to select which way to connect isn’t available until you finish creating the POP account (go back in and change to: Work)

7. To get IE working:
(In Pocket Internet Explorer) Menu/Tools/Options/Connections
Check “Automatically Detect Settings”
Select Network: WAP Network

Can you explain numbers 1 and 2 again using the T-mobile Wing's screens. I'm lost with one and two because after 'editing (managing) existing connections, the screen takes me some place other than where you're referring. Thanks.
