7000 removing ringtones still on list

ok i have removed ringtones on my phone with bitpim and pull them out of the filesystem but the phone still has them in the list of ringtones. they wont play but the list is still really long.. any suggestions?
nevermind backed up sound.dat rebooted phone and it worked was missing some ones that were actually supposed to still be there but jus tsent data and it added them back.
