N840 problems

Just got my new NEC N840 yesterday, and i have to say i am somewhat disappointed so far... can't get it to work with the USB cable, and i've formatted the mini SD card and loaded MIDI ringtones and a full .mp3 song on by putting the card in the memory card slot on my laptop but i cant find anything but pictures when going through the folders on the phone :-( since it doesnt have data transfer through bluetooth, i was hoping the mini SD card and USD cable would be suitable substitutes, but i think i was very wrong :-(

it's a bit creaky too but pictures are brilliant. standard ringtones are absolute shockers (all the more reason to get my own on)

got the USB cable going :-) but if anyone knows how to set me up for MMS/WAP for Vodafone NZ would be much appreciated :-)

Also have noticed the camera doesnt like too much light. if there is too much, the picture just turns out white cos it cant handle it

Yeah my n830 did that once, it crashes every so often. It reminds me of windows.

read the instructions and put the right files in the right folders. otherwise there's no way the phone can hotswap/hotread it (otherwise, u'll need to sync the card with the phone everytime u switch a card, like most local japanese phones)

might take some renaming (e.g. mp3 files has to be in latin alphabets, max length 8 strings xxxxxxxx.mp3)

to install the usb software:
again, read the "README" on the cdrom
u need to install more than one drivers, and and phone needs to be recognized for 3~5 times (once for each part of the driver(s) ) i cant remember

instructions in english ehre, in case the version u got was from chinamobile

don't get disappointed buddy, card reader is the only thing i use to transfer stuff nowadays

i only use the usb cable for phonebook, mfm tones and java programs.

one more reminder, locate the correct music player mode which is at manu->8->1 instead of just under the "music" folder (manu->6->4). the "music" folder screen is only intended for previews/file management
