ive got some QDs that used to be demo models for cingular.. was wondering can they be flashed? and does ne one flash QDs?

Posted by: angel_wing0

demos cannot be flashed..its a hardware issue

Posted by: DaILoMaC

are you sure that it can not be flashed because.. the first n-gage i had a demo one and some 1 flashed it for me and it works.. i dont think its about the hardware.. but only software problems..

then just flash it, we have a big disccusion here b4 for flashing them and reached to the same conclusion that i said last post d

Supposedly, the demo and prototype units have certain hardware components missing which allow them to work only in Offline Mode. Nobody has been able to confirm whether these units can be flashed into OEM N-Gages.

It would be great to get some insight on this.

well he can try..since he is a tech after all

Posted by: TriBand81

It must be hardware-related since whenever I try to make a call with an N-Gage demo unit in a store I get a message saying:"This is N-Gage Demo, calls cannot be made with this unit."

Posted by: angel_wing0

exactly, but just let him try and cry here (althou i would love to see him to get it to work)

and what do ngage demo units show when you put in *#0000#?

I've heard it's a reflash, protected memory rewrite, reset all the rx and tx functions, limits and parameters.... and then it might work.

Simpler to buy a real one.

^ it should stay show the fw version i think...

I have a Ngage QD Demo from when I worked at Cingular. When you try to pull up the phone's info using *#0000) I get the following:

V 3.00
30-04-2004
RH-47 POS

Whats so strange about it?

By the way, I opened up the phone chassis to look at the board and all the components are there. Bluetooth functions correctly and everything is exactly like a retail Ngage. The hardware missing is just a rumor...

With that being said...can it or can't it be flashed?
