N840 Line ID setting (M - 1 - 6 - 4)

I suppose this should be the option to block outgoing call ID, but it is grayed out. The manual does not mention this function at all, but describes the other three options on the same menu. I have the chinamobile version. Is this the same as the unbranded N840s?

sorry didnt see your post til now - i have an unbranded model and it's not grayed out for me....looks, like you can control whether or not line id is showed for incomming and outgoing calls....hmm...interesting, I'll trade you n840 problems lol - u have functional GPRS but not line id control, i have line id control, but no GPRS yet....grrr...

EDIT: Ok, confirmed, the id block works, like if I choose not to show line id, the caller see's 'private' on thier caller id when i call them, so you're right, that's what it does

I'm pretty sure now that chinamobile disabled that option in its N840. I used to use this setting on 525, but now I don't have a choice. I have learned that the main menu ordering is also different to accomedate some chinamobile specific items, but don't seem to have any other functional differences. But I still like the chinamobile version for its distinct red logo.

Kokaku, you've used NEC phones before you said, I know this is off topic, but how in the heck does one go about saving new words into the t9 dictionary??

Actually, I've never tried to add any words. And I don't even know if it's possible cuz I can't find a menu for editing t9 dictionary on my phone right now.
