Hello everyone,

This is my first time posting a message so I hope you keep that in mind when responding. I'm looking to buy a cell phone from Verizon. Everyone that I talk to says that Verizon has the best coverage in my area. I'm in North Fort Myers FL. I was wondering if someone could give me advice on which phone to purchase. I had the Motorola V710 and I didn't like how bulky the phone was. I wasn't too attracted to the setup of the menu. I never even knew I had an mp3 capable phone. Also, I really never had any use for the bluetooth. I'm not really sure who that product is designed too. I just had no need for it. Anyways, I was looking at the LG, Samsung, and other Motorola phones. Here are my requirements not in order of importance:

picture caller ID
Able to put any song as a particular persons ringer
speakerphone
I am very partial to flip phones
I like a good looking designed phone
ease of features

I'm sorry if I didn't give you very many features to work with. I'm going to get the phone on Friday. Thank you very much for your input.

I'd like to help you to make the best choice if you check what phones verizon is offering and then if you list the ones you like most down here.

Here are the phones I am looking at.

LG
vx4700
vx6100
vx7000

Samsung
SCH-a670
SCH-a890

I'm not sure if all of these phones cover my requirements.

1)VX-4700 has no camera, but push-to-talk, USB connection and speakerphone. No picture ID.

2)VX-6100 has a camera which is not better than Samsung A680, it has USB connection and speaker, the display is better than 4100 but worse than A860 again. It has picture ID.

3)VX-7000 has the same display as A680, same camera quality as VX-6100 and USB connection but no speakerphone. It has picture ID.

4)SCH-A670 has the smallest size among five. Camera quality is VGA (640X480) same as number 2 and 3. No USB connection and no speakrphone. It has picture ID.

5)SCH-A890 has 1+MP camera (best among five) and high-speed data while missing USB connection and speakerphone, best display (same as LG VX-7000) and also has Streaming multimedia. Also the lightest among five. It has picture ID.

None of the phones as you see satisfy all your expectations. If i had to choose one i'd take LG VX-7000. Good luck

The only reason I'm picking a Verizon phone is because I was told that they have the largest coverage area. I'm going to be moving to Vancouver WA in a year so thats why I'm trying to pick a good carrier. I like the motorola phones and they offer everything that I want. I've heard that they have the lowest battery life out of all the phones. I have another question. Why does Verizon offer so few phones? I might just be misunderstanding this, but they are the biggest carrier, right? Thanks for the previous reply.

Hi again, actually, Motorolas have the longest lasting battery life which is very opposite of what you think. I think Cingular is the biggest carrier now withholding AT&T in their inc. Verizon or Sprint offer not so many phones because they use cdma/tdma, not GSM and many phones work with GSM only. Please also check here for more info. ;

Thank you for taking the time out to respond. I will most definitely check out Cingular's service plan in my area. I'll also learn more about GSM.
