i am planning to get a QD from t-mobile...everyone is saying that is it only dual band but on t-mobile website it says that it is triband....so if i buy it and then do not work, is there any firmware to upgrade my frequancy level? I am getting it for $134.99 for upgrade....or should i buy something else???

If you want a QD that works in Europe, you might want to look for a cheap European/Asian model on eBay which has GSM 900/1800.

The original N-Gage has GSM 900/1800/1900 which is why it would work in the US with T-Mobile.

Yeah, but checkout the Moto forums on how a630 users are enabling the 850MHz band and making it Quad. In some cases, the h/w is compatible, but the s/w is "limited by design".

Personal experience: I actually owned a Quad Moto e398, which is s/w limited to triband for production. I have also flashed my old Samsung e715 from 900/1900 to 900/1800 and vice versa when I travelled back and forth from Europe.

It'll be interesting to see if the QD actually has an extra band h/w enabled .. Cheers,

Sabesh

cool...never knew that

While that would be cool, I doubt it since the QD is normally sold at a cheaper price than the original N-Gage was.

and those phones probably have the hardware for quadband..its just disabled

Posted by: TriBand81

Correct, most of the time this is done via the flex or firmware.

but no on the QD thou..i m pretty sure nokia wont do that

i find moto's are normaly the case, you can somehow always flex a moto into something that its not.

but i haven't heard of that from nokia's. I'm going to ASSUME that you can't because if you could do such things people would be all over it by now. Like how you see many v300~> v600 and such. Those things are popular. To see due to moto's design. But i assume nokia' isn't the say way. Because their are unbranded nokia's but they still dont have that option in them.

No doubt since they want to keep producing two sets of each handset once it's released.

Posted by: angel_wing0

exactly..moto probably have the quad-band cheap, u just need to flash it to get it to work~

How nice that you always agree with me
