I cannot seem to record video with the Treo 650 with audio.
Is this possible? Its kinda pointless if not. My microphone is on...but it will not record the audio with it. Anyone know how?

I use a free program called MovieRec at www.inifinityball.com to record my movies with sound. I have a Treo 600 though so I dont know if it will work on your Treo 650.

It comes up as unavailable

doesnt work with the 650, caused reset on my phone

on page 98 of the user manual it states....microphone...turn on for recording video with sound....

I can not manage to do this...all recordings have no audio, anyone else expierencing this?

Sorry to hear the software doesnt work on your Treo 650. Perhaps the movies dont seem like they have audio because you put the Treo on silent? I knoe when i first got my Treo 600 my movies didnt play with audio until i used headphones. And thought this sucks without the speaker sounds. But then i realized it was just the phone stuck in silent mode and it was surpressing all the speaker sounds. So try putting the phone out of silent if it is in silent mode and try playing the videos again? Hopefully thats your case and you can get your videos with sound!

not on silent

My Treo 650 records sound with video with its native software.

Just wondering if the Treo 650 users can save the video w/ audio onto their computers and play them using standard video players? Or is the recorded video in some propriatary format? And how big are the file sizes. I get HUGE file sizes using my Treo 600 and third party software.

well why the hell can't i record sound...this is really starting to piss me off. Would i contact Cingular or PalmOne for a warrenty return? I have only had the **** phone since 02/22/05

Can i return in any Cingular store? The problem being i was on a trip in a different state when i picked the phone up. I dont have to bring it to that exact store do i?

p.s. i also notice my earpiece doesnt work correctly anymore...wtf up with this? no volume at all...which knocks out MP3 use...ahh i should have gotten the S710a

They're saved as .3g2 files. Newer versions of Quicktime can play these files. So all you have to do is save the video files to SD card and get the clips to your computer via Bluetooth, e-mail, or with an SD card reader and there you go.

can the format be converted to avi or mpg? and is there a program that will record to a different format using the 650

How to convert .3GP movies, taken with mobile phone, into .AVI ?

Convert 3gp to avi with QuickTime

Download QuickTime Pro at http://www.apple.com.
If you have older version of Quicktime player or still have problems with playing 3gp files then just download and install Quicktime Alternative.

1) Open your .3gp movies in QuickTime Player.
2) Press File -> Export...
3) Enter filename.
4) Choose type of output file (Export: Movie to AVI (.AVI), Movie to DV Stream (.DV) or Movie to Quicktime Movie (.MOV)).
5) For AVI: press Options -> Video Settings -> choose DV - PAL (for better quality of re-compression).
6) Click Save! That's all.

Achap, for some reason it just occurred to me to ask, but do you have the microphone turned on? When in the Camcorder application, hit the Menu key to take you to Video Settings. Make sure Microphone is set to on.
