What firmware do you have? My Kingmax 1GB card came pre-formatted and I was able to use it right away.

I believe the 6230 cannot format cards over 256( as nokia recommends). I have a 256 ATP and have no problems . You need to get a card writer to format it . 1 gig card is going to drain your battery.

why would it drain my battery i have a 128 in it and it works fine right out the box
how do i find out witch version of firmware i have

ty guys

so i went down best buy to return my 128mb stick cuz well i got the gig now. so my phone formats a card to fat16 well gig needs fat32 the dude at best buy did it for free on a comp that was bieng worked on it was sweet

now the only problem i see i that when im in the gallary it only and look at the mmc card i go to details and it sais that only 156mb total. but in the settings it sais that my mmc card has the whole gig. so my question is, is that going to be a problem or does it matter. currently i am trying to max out the card to see if it will let me put more then 158mb on it. the wierd thing is that pc suite reconizes the gig should i be concernd? if i get a reply before i either figure it out for myself or mess up my phone **hopefully that wont be the case** so pray for me hehe

ty again guys

well ive almost maxed my 1gb mmc and the only problem ive had is the music player takes forever to access all the songs ive put on. other then that i love this phone

i've heard you should keep folders to a certain size and the phone will ruin much better

best buy sells MMC cards? the ones ive been to only sell xd, sony's, sd, Minisd, and cf. any other brick&mortar places sell this format?

i just bought an ADATA 2gb card... will report back on how it goes

I'm using a 2gb card right now, have been for a bit now, and love it like it's a new pair of shoes.

I've been using the mp3 player all my workday (only 1 hour left! Joyous) and my battery is still metering full. I really don't think the size of the mmc has much to do with power consumption, save for when it's loading up playlists and such.

Yeah, 2 gigs are better than 1.

You got a 2gb to work? Nice, what brand?

Posted by: Freddy Flash

TopRam off ebay. Generic methinks, but working like a champ

??? Why ? A flash card doesnt need power to keep the data...

how do you put files in directories? I created a directory called Music and put in an mp3 but music player won't see it. I don't have my 1gb mmc yet so i'm still using the stock 32mb which has some norah jones sampler aac file on it. That's on the root of the mmc and that's all it shows. IS there something I need ot do? Thanks

use the music player app, not the media player app

Posted by: ziddey

eh how come?

You guys buy 512 or 1gb mmc cards so you can put music on your phone. but then how do you listen to it? through the speakerphone or through a headset? I was looking at some of the headsets and they are only for one ear, so its not like headphones. I am thinking it wouldn't be as cool to listen to music on just one ear? Am i missing something here? Fill me in guys.

look up ad-15 on ebay

Posted by: ForHisGlory

Thanks ziddey for the info. Looks like I'll have to spend some more money. I probably should of bought a card reader instead of the dku-2 cable, but oh well. I got it for like $15. But then a card reader is just a couple of more bucks. So now I need the ad-15 ($20), some ear phones ($30), 512MB or 1GB MMC ($35, $60). Add that all up and that is about $125 (1GB) and $100 (512MB). Hmm...looking at that it seems logical to get 1GB, but still that is $125. I can buy a real mp3 player with that couldn't I? Did you guys have this same issue?

I got my 6230 about a year and a half ago, bought a 128mb mmc for £20, then a 512 mb mmc for it for £50, a fashion headset from nokia for £20, the pop port headphone adapter from hofo for £10 and a decent pair of headphones for £10. Expensive ontop of the phone which was £360 but it works out to be a decent mp3 player

nokia make a stereo headset with mic. it's sold at most cingular stores or you can buy it direct from nokia. personally i use my bluetooth head set although it is only in one ear there is no wires and people can't tell you are listening to music if you are at work or where ever
