I recently ordered a cable off ebay for my lg4500..the package says its for a lg4010 thou! the travel charger and wall charger say they're for the lg4010 and lg6000 and both work fine, BUT I haven't goten bitpim to work through my datacable

The phone doesn't even charge when the data cable is plugged in and my computer is on..I think that means my cable is bad, any ideas??

And my cable does have that circuit board in the middle for usb-serial conversion.

ps..i have all drivers installed, futuredial, and everything as worked for my other phones using a different cable.

I odn't think the phone is supposed to charge through the computer cable. I know the motorolla ones do/used to, but my VX6000 wouldn't charge.

I used to have the cable with the box in the middle, but it keep freezing up my computer whenever i connected the phone, so i exchanged it for one without it

Do you get an alert for "New Hardware Found" when you plug your phone in?

yeah i got the new hardware and i installed a few different drivers, prolific drivers and futuredial or something.
I use the settings feature in Bitpim and it reconzies the usb-serial port but still it gives me an error "Com Port 6: 'cannot open'"

how do u test to see if the cable is bad? cuz i know the software is installed correctly
