Faceplate on the MPX220

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I bought this crappy faceplate off of Ebay for my phone. I just wanted to get that reflective chroming off the front that is just asking to get scratched. It said that it needed a T6, but it actually needed a T4. ( I am only adding that because I read in a few different places that it needed a T6. ) Well after getting the front off and pulling those lil sticky screw covers out of my cat's mouth a few times, I finally took a close look at the faceplate to see that the lens cover for the camera actually looks like a fisheye lens. It was blurry and distorted just looking through it. The camera sucks with the basically clear moto faceplate, so you can just imagine what happened with this one. Well, I definitely learned my lesson and just wanted to pass this on to anyone else who was considering it. If anyone has any experience with a better quality faceplate, I'd like to hear about it

How does the battery cover fit?

Posted by: nicki

It seems to fit the same as the OEM.

Have any seen the black OEM case for MPx220?

Posted by: jedimyndtryx

Yeah I bought a clear one on ebay and the darn screws didn't even fit right!!! I also noticed the camera after installing it and missed some great photo ops in Vegas with my kids because of it. I took it off and tossed it. I'll just try and protect my OEM faceplate as good as I can. Unless of course I can find the black OEM one. =D

That's good, because the OEM one seems quite flimsy...so it's nice to know I have a backup!

what kind of paint did you use? can you give details? does it have a metallic finish? what about the moto logo... how does that look... the cover of the mpx had a couple of different finishes... like shiny, and also matte. does that show after you paint?
