Gizmondo street date announced: 19 March 2005
Start your drum roll. The Gizmondo will be available to buy in the UK as of 19 March 2005. You'll be able to bag one from either a Gizmondo retail partner or from the Gizmondo flagship store on London's Regent Street, which begins trading on that day.
In your pack, you'll get your Gizmondo, a battery and a charger, a USB cable, a contract-free SIM, in-ear headphones, driver software and an SD card featuring demos of games, movies and music. The Gizmondo will cost £229 (inc VAT), while games will be available for £9.99, £19.99 and £29.99.
Gizmondo Europe MD Carl Freer commented: "Gizmondo is the British challenger in a market that will witness a spectacular boom this year. We've been able to introduce exciting new features like GPS into gaming, and with such a remarkable list of features, the Gizmondo is the most powerful, feature-laden piece of multi-entertainment hardware available."

eehhhh . . . I'll buy the Sony PSP instead. I will probably buy this later though. It looks promising.

Looking at the specs, it looks like it has the potential to be better than the PSP.
GPS and a Phone together sounds great to me.

got mine a coupla weeks ago, and i must say, i love it!
It only cost me £129 from the flagship store on regent street (15mins bus from my house).
I've already got 6 movies on my 1gig SD card for it:
Saw
Matrix Reloaded
The Incredibles
Ice Age
Napoleon Dynamite
Team America

GPS and a phone together? get a CDMA phone.
games over GPRS... expensive.
games over bluetooth.. perhaps not bad.. but the psp wins with games over 802.11b
gizmondo will fail. took too long to come out. and now.. too little too late

or if you want, you can plug it into you PC via USB cable and use the standard GPRS services, but everything will be downloaded via your PCs internet connection...
How cool is that?

Actually, bluetooth would be superior assuming that game doesn't need to send a massive amount of data. Bluetooth's power comsumption is a tiny faction of what a WiFi device.
I agree that the Gizmondo will fail though. It's ugly beyond belief and I've heard that it's quite unstable (good old Windows
). It also doesn't have the brand power of Sony, Nintendo or even Nokia.
