Can't Edit Voicemail Favorites Button (Treo 650)

Hey guys...

So I just picked up a new Treo 650 from Cingular. And I received a voicemail this afternoon and when I tried to retrieve it (by pressing and holding '1'), it asked me for my provider's voicemail number.

So I put in the voicemail number that my Cingular prepaid phone uses to retrieve voicemail. Well, apparently, the number is incorrect 'cause it kept telling me that for security purposes to please access my voicemail from my handset.

So I tried to edit the Favorite, but the phone number field is inaccessible. The only part that I can edit is the Ringtone. Does anyone know how I can edit this number... and what IS my voicemail number?

I tried dialing myself and that apparently worked... so is that the right number? Or is there a particular "voicemail center" number like on my prepaid phone and my T-Mobile phone?

BTW, I thought the original problem might be the SIM problem some people have experienced with the corrupt voicemail number, but I confirmed and I have the 64-bit Axalto SIM card... so I think I'm good to go on that end.

Thanks in advance guys!

To the best of my knowledge there is NO way to edit it. You had your one shot and you blew it.

You can move that favourite by "edit favourites pages" and then draging it to an unused page. You can then create a new favourite for VM (but you can't use "1" for the quick key as that is already used.

A hard reset should allow you to reenter your VM number. If that doesn't work a hard reset without the SIM in will do the trick.

Thanks for the reply Chillin...

Wow, that sucks.

A hard reset will restore everything to default right?

Which means all my contacts, my ringtones, etc will be gone? No big deal... I just got it today and just beamed my contacts and ringtones from my old phone via Bluetooth.

Thanks again...

I purchased a program yesterday that will allow you to change those buttons and a whole lot more.
It was called TAKEphONE and can be found at shsh.com

I havent really played with all the futures yet

Thanks BigEd...

I'm on the phone with Cingular now. They said they've had several people with the same problem (read: idiots like me), but they're looking into sending me an OTA Update to try to fix it.

If that doesn't work, the guys over at TreoCentral suggested a freeware program called Filez. I'm going to give that a try.

I tried a hard reset and that didn't help. Just deleted all my data, as expected.

Thanks for the suggestion!

you can edit it if you put your sim in another GSM phone, nokia's work, haven't tried other brands

HAHAHAHA... Come to think of it, that's always editable in all my other phones.

I could've just plopped it in my SE T616 and probably just edited it that way.

I'm a retard.

Thanks JayL.

VNL.

I did this exact same thing when I got my Axalto SIM card. Called technical support and the did change it over the air without a problem.

if you have anything but the number save in the format +1-XXX-XXX-XXXX it will not work (leave dashes out). i had to pace my sim card back in my V551 and edit out the password and # sign then i went into advanced on the treo and placed them in there and worked perfect.

i changed my sim card from the 'gem' to the 'a' card and that fixed my problem with the voicemail phone number. i want to know how do you delete the preset Cingular buttons like 'check min' and other. they are just wasting space on my phone
