Hey y'all

Any of you getting that dust problem that people in the UK get with their HTCs? I dont hear much about the dust getting into the screens in the United States...just wanted to see if people here are getting that problem or not...and if they have a solution for it...

jleecong,

I read that modaco thread you posted with..so what did you end up doing? send it in yet? also, did you consider getting that Martinfields silicone jacket for the 5600?

Never sent it in. Love the phone and use it everyday!

I just got a SE610 as a spare last week so now would be the time. I only really notice it when I'm outside however I sometimes see specs in the dark... it is annoying!

I don't like cases and don't think I should have to purchase a case to keep dust out of my screen. At least with my old Nokia 3650 I could just take the cover off and clean it. Very simple.

You can exchange it with Audiovox directly however keep in mind a few things.

1.) they charge your CC for the full amount of the phone then refund it back less $20 when the receive your defective unit back.

2.) If you paid for the phone to be unlocked, the new one you get will be locked and you have to unlock it again.

I did this with my 5600 because the dust was killing me so it cost me about $50 for the entire process and no, I am not with Cingular and I purchased this phone from Amazon.com with no service plan.

Audiovox Warranty 800-229-1235 I think this is for US only but not sure.

Mashie,

Great info! I too bought the phone from amazon with no service plan. I dont even have my phone yet, but i was just preparing myself for this problem hehe. So you said that entire process cost $50? but audiovox charges $20? Where did the other $30 come from?
Did you hear about that imei check company? I heard from one of jleecong's posts that they might give you another unlock code if you can prove that you sent in the defective one..hmm..just a thought..

Thank You Mashie. That is why I never sent in my phone.

I figured Audiovox would do that and I'm NOT willing to repay 40.00 to unlock my phone when the carrier Audiovox locks the phone to no longer exist.

imei-check was nice about the situation but will not resend you a unlock code for your new phone.

I'm so glad I didn't send it in because as soon as I got my phone back I would have called Audiovox and said my new phone doesn't work and the problems would have started.

the $30 or so was for the 2nd unlock. I did e-mail the imei unlock company and to their credit they replied with something like if I could prove that I purchased an unlock code and that it was for a replacement phone they woud "consider" giving me a one time 2nd unlock code but I ended up just purchasing a 2nd unlock.
