I don’t know who started it but the Tre650 is a great phone/pda. I have found that the two main complaints: resets are due to poorly written apps.
Lack of memory: address by free sd card and Powerrun.

My phone has not reset in a week and I haver 11.3 meg of available memory. If I delete Agendus I’ll be up to 13 meg.

So if you are looking at the Treo650, get it you will be happy!

i do agree.

Most (not all) resets are caused by software that is loaded onto the phone that shouldn't, or is incompatible.

Hope you enjoy your Treo

Personally I think many are from people who do not own one.

This is, in my opinion, the first phone/pda that finally got it right. I astound people showing them what I have loaded on my 650, organized with Launcher X 1.1.1 - the all time best launcher and phone/SD Card file manager.

And given Cingular's matching web pricing of $349, and taking in ATT customers as if they were new - with all the benefits - it is a great buy. I use it with two web email addresses and my company mail.

I say this so many times I thinkk I'm going to have to put it in a signature...

You have to take complaints on discussion boards with a grain of salt, sometimes. People that have any kind of device that they love don't run out to discussion boards to say how much they love their device. The people that do run to discussion boards are the ones that have a problem or want to vent some frustration.

There are probably a ton more people out there that love their device than those that hate it or are having problems.

Today I posted the results of my encounter with PalmOne tech support during which time I was told that there is a problem with the Treo 650 in that it will not check e-mails as it is supposed to be able to do. I was told it is a known problem with no known solution or even the liklihood there will be a solution. Since it has settings to do this and is promoted as being able to do this, why would some users not be unhappy about this device. I have a case number to verify this discussion.

I also have only one third party application on my Treo and it came with the Treo (Documents to Go). Mine resets at will, including the time it wiped out all e-mail accounts and stopped auto synching (yes, it did auto synch the first 2 weeks I had it, but has not been able to do so since that time).

also have you thought about it this way.

people who are happy with their T650s don't post about it. only people who aren't happy whine about it. it's that simple...in this business, no news is good news.

I am very happy with my Treo 650. I switched to XDA IIs from Treo 600 but went back to Treo 650 2 days after. Although Treo 650 does not have WiFi, surfing the net with Xiino + GPRS using Treo 650 feels much faster than WiFi (which connects to ADSL 1M) on XdaIIs.

Of course they don't post. Didn't you know posting good things is bad luck?
Wow, hope it doesn't strike me!

Excellent points in this thread.
Any product I research of the web seems to have mainly negative posts from people who have problems and every product has some problems.

My Treo has been great. I have a 1GB card in it and lots of data loaded including a big phone database.

It does what it is supposed to quite well.

Does yours perform auto synchs?

I think that many people here including myself had VERY high expectations of the phone. Maybe even unfair expectations. I actually returned my 650 but not because it was a bad phone but because it did not do one thing I find VERY important. It did not connect to the bluetooth system that is built into my car (A BMW). But to be fair overall the 650 is a great phone I just hope that Palm gets some of the little bugs worked out.

So now I am back to my RAZR and My SE P910 as my work horse phone.

I was wondering about using the Treo in my BMW but I guess you answered that question for me. I have also found it is hard to get the Treo to mate with my Motorola headset, but then Bluetooth always seems to give me fits.

i am amazed that none of you have run into the sim card issue. i had the gem card that they now admit is not compatible with the GSM cingular. the 'a' card solved that problem.
i do agree that the software from the treo 600 is not compatible with the 650 and this has created havoc for me. i also went through 6 treo 600's for quality issues.
but even the versamail that came with the 650 is creating havoc. the other day i went to check my email and the system resets. then people could not leave me voice messages due to a software issue.
i love my treo 650 but i spend to much time on the phone with tech support people who don't know how to fix the problems.

Your post reminds me of what I went through with my Iqaq 6315 before throwing in the towel and going with the Treo 650, which is now giving me it own set of problems. Actually, my problem is seeming small compared to what I am reading. I just can't get e-mail via auto synch. Maybe I have things to look forward to that are worse and the Treo will go on Ebay just like the Ipaq. I would go with Blackberry, but I am told it is not great on PIM features and web browsing and is only strong on e-mail.
