treo 650 and bluetooth to transfer files

before people get mad, i did try to do a google search as well as using search on Hofo. didn't get my answer.

first of all, if i transfer a file (say a image) from my pc to treo 650 via bt, it puts it on my treo somewhere. when i go into the media application, there it is. but where the heck is it stored on the internal memory? i used resco file explorer and did a search on the file and it doesn't show up anywhere. if i use the media application, i can transfer that image to my card. thats fine, but i want to know where does it store on the treo itself?

i came from a pocketpc environment before my first palm (treo 650) so please be understanding. on the ppc, it was so easy. i can browse my ppc device as if it was another pc. the folder shows up on my pc and i can just double click on it. and it has standard folders such as my documents where it stores things. when i move the image from internal memory to card, i then see the file in resco explorer in a folder called DCIM.

palm os and file management seems so confusing. is there some place i can go to to read about it?

also, how do you send a file from the treo 650 to a pc using bt? do i do a beam, or send? beam seems like it tries to send via IR. is that correct? and when i do send, it does nothing or it reboots

I don't know where exactly it goes. But, you know how to retreive it, isn't that enough?

Yes, "beam" uses IR. You need to select "send" and then select BT to send VIA BT.

no, if it was enough, i wouldn't ask these questions.

when you had it before, naturally you'd want to know what happened. i'm totally new to palm os and trying to understand it better. if the file goes to never never land on the internal memory then thats fine too. and if i move it to the sd card and it miraculously now shows up in file searches, then thats fine too. i just needed someone to verify that thats what it is happening.

i guess palm is like mac as to ppc is like windows. you have a lot more control in windows environment than in mac. so i guess in the pda world, palm is supposed to be very simple to use and you don't have a lot of control over. or so i am finding out.

don't get me wrong, i totally love my treo now. but just trying to figure things out.

I just meant what are you going to do with that information, if you do know where the file is located?

Anyways I see what you are saying, I can't find my pictures either. I even tried creating a album on the device, and then seaching for that album. No luck. Based on my very limited browsing of my files using Filesz, I would guess that the imiges are in the "image library" (the #of records, and total file size seem about right).

good question. not sure what i'd do with the information. i guess i am so used to using file explorer (filez) type program to move pictures around or even tapping from there and opening the pic. the treo/palm os is definately a new thing for me and i just need to get used to. but funny the file will appear once moved to the card, but no where to be found on the internal memory.
