New Phone

I have a Nokia 3650 and am in the market for a new phone, I have no interest in music or videos or games but I do want a full featured phone (prefer candy bar type over flip phone but will consider all) with Bluetooth and USB connectivity and above all a good receiver, any suggestions?

Thanks you.

do you want another symbian phone? If so, then you can look at the 7610, 6670, or the 6630. If those are too fully featured for you, then you can look at the 6600/6620 as well. If you don't want another symbian phone and would prefer a regular phone, then can you post some more info on what you are looking for?

go for either E1000, MPx (mpx 300) or E398.

I agree with braindead5400 and you'll be surprised how far the Symbian phones have come since the 3650.

If you're looking for something on a contract, then I believe the latest phone to be released in the states is the 7610, closely followed by the 6620. I own a 7610 and its a fantastic phone. It's got great RF, a great screen and a pretty decent camera too.

Another option would be to wait a month or two for the 6682 to be released. It's got a 1.3MP camera with flash, EDGE, push-to-talk and a very fast processor.

Off contract, the 6630 is the most fully-featured smartphone on the market but doesn't support the 850Mhz band.

my friend has 6630, it's big and wide, ugly like most of the nokia phones. They need a new designer.

Style is a very subjective matter. Personally I think that the E398 is the ugliest brick of a phone that I've ever seen. The buttons on it look so cheap and tacky.

Motorola really need to work on their UI too. It's a horrible mess of menu after menu after menu. It takes way too long to do even the simplest task like switching between T9 and standard text entry. Using their UI is such a frustrating experience.

As you say, style is a very subjective matter. The buttons of E398 might seem cheap but they are not. I also disagree on menu after a menu thing which is nonsense and showing your ignorance about motorola menus (as a matter fact it is menu after menu in nokias you must be confused or something). "It takes way too long to do even the simplest task like switching between T9 and standard text entry." This sentence is another wrong statement by you. If you don't know Moto don't make false comments about it. IT TAKES ONLY ONE BUTTON TO PRESS IF YOU WANT TO SWITCH FROM ITAP TO TAP (u probably don't even know what that means).

And again 7610 is heavy and ugly piece of ....like 6630. Nokia needs a new designer. Motorola V3 is selected as the most stylish phone which shows the differences between the designers... No more need to say.

I'd have to agree about the buttons on the E398, I really liked them when i had the phone. I'd also have to agree with Aaron that the nokia has a much easier UI than the moto. One of the most widely known facts about the series 40 UI is that its simple and easy to use, which it is. Try not to take the statements personally though, it sounds like you are attacking him when he simply expressed his opinion about the E398.

PS. I happen to love the look of my 7610 and so does everone who sees it, I also don't find it heavy at all, its a smartphone anyway so its not gonna be the lightest phone around

You mention about agreeing e398' buttons to you dont look good , or its UI is not good and tell me not to attack him which i wasn't but you do not mention that makes false statemens about moto as he shouldn't...To me it seems like your being nokia user instincts just pushed you to help cover his personal and false statements. I think you just joined us about taking statements personal which staterted with very objective comment "Nokia 6630 is ugly and heavy" followed by Aaron's taking it personal and attacking to e398( just bec. i wrote something negative about nokias) for no reason as you never mention this. You are just taking side for a phone you are using. I suggest try not to do that at least on my comments. Thanks.

Apoligises for the "personal" attack, but I felt it was justified as your post smelt of blatant Motorola fan-boyism. You suggested the Motorola MPx, which is incredibly over-priced, hasn't even seen a US/EU release and has been universally critised.

I'd love to hear your justified for recommending it, especially over something like the iMate JAM (which costs about half as much and has double the specs). If you've recommended this one just because it's a Motorola, I assume you've recommended the other ones just because they're Motorolas.

To me a smartphone needs wi-fi, voice dialing (i-mate is missing both) and good screen resolution. I don't mind having ringer id and profiles (MPx has while it's missing video capturing) but MPx also has better look than i-mate which looks like a fat screen phone only. I did not say anyhting about Nokias that 9500 is the only Nokia rivaling Mpx anyways. About MPx is having only half of I-mate's specs also shows you did not make enough search on both phones mate. Check the sites below;

the buttons are good, the ui is not as good/straight forward as nokia. I mentioned you attacking him because he simply stated his opinion on the moto and you called him ignorant of moto menus and then said that he probably doesn't know what itap means. Your statements sounded much more personal than his because he only mentioned a phone. Yea, and he was wrong about one thing, so what? People can be wrong about stuff, its not the end of the world.

Oh yea, and a smartphone also needs a good amount memory and a decent processor, especially for the price of the MPx (it lacks both).

One more thing, I'm not taking the side of the phone I'm using, I use SEVERAL different brands of phones, not just nokias

The iMate JAM has a 416Mhz XScale CPU and 64MB of RAM.

The Motorola MPx has an 200Mhz OMAP CPU and 32MB of RAM.

Half the spec, wouldn't you agree?

The iMate JAM also supports SDIO meaning that wifi is easily added to it.

If he is taking my objective comment personal and attacking and claiming on something about moto which is not true is not end of the world, me taking it personal to answer him is not end of the world either. Do you personally have a problem with that?

yea, because it fills a perfectly good thread with a bunch of BS. Its no problem when someone says something bad about a phone but when you start calling people ignorant it brings down the quality of the forum.
