I am trying to get a Treo from a guy on eBay but claims to not have a camera to take a pic of the IMEI label to verify he has one in hand.

He sent me the IMEI but I have no way to verify it is correct....is there any way someone could post the first 8 or 9 numbers on here to see if they match up with what he sent me?

I know the rules state not asking for an IMEI but I am not asking for the whole thing, just the first set of numbers that verify the model.

Thanks for the help.

post the IMEI and I will tell you if it matches.

leaving the last few out for security.

The first 2 numbers match, after that no.

If he has a treo then he has a camera to take the pic. no?

I was thinking the same thing regarding the Treo's camera, that's why I wanted some form of verification after he said he had no pics.

Looks like I will be looking for a trade on the boards and avoiding eBay.

I recently was scammed for a bluetooth headset on ebay. The guy had 44 feedback and 100% positve. And he looked like he sold some expensive things in the past (ie. laptop). But he NEVER sent my headset and kept giving me the run around until he stopped answering my emails. Took over a month but its finally resolved and Paypal gives me back my money minus $25US paypal fee. I just dont know how trustworthy ebay is nowadays.

EDIT: Forgot to comment on ur problem. If no pictures and IMEI doesnt match up DONT BID ON IT! Save yourself the trouble/money. Goodluck

ask the guy to take picture with the treo itself using a mirror

Tell him you have a cousin that lives near by and would like to have them go by and pick up the unit. See how fast his story changes or how slow his reply will be. Did that when the original Titanium Powerbooks came out. Guy listed his address as next to my mom and dad. Told him I'd be over in a few days to inspect and buy his story changed to the unit is in Romania. Luck would have it I'm from Romania and have family there. Told him Someone would be over to pay and pick up. Never got any returns on my calls. Wonder why.

I think i'm just going to buy it at the store, they are holding one for me to come look at. It's worth the few extra dollars to insure im not getting ripped off.

I bought mine at the store. Do you have the PDA plan on your account?
I ask this because they might not sell you the phone/ give you a hard time

Posted by: mshelby

I don't have a PDA plan, and I did get a hard time over it.

I told them my company is going to activate a new line of service for me so I just need the equipment, still was given **** over it but eventually got it.

The first one I got the mic didn't work and noone could hear me, my second one is working like a dream even got CS to add the grandfathered media works for me....now to find a freeware IM app.

Is that fat as in big, or fat as in phat?

First of all the Treo 650 is WAY overpriced there, you can get it much cheaper.

Secondly, the V8 (what were they thinking naming a phone after a tomato drink?) is listed at $0 with $8.50 shipping. What do you think would happen if I ordered it?
