Well, im aware of the sim card issues and mine is being replaced.
however, i downloaded the tones program from palmone and purchased a ringtone. tried to download the ringtone from the phone and on install it reboots. i downloaded from my desktop and use palm quickinstall to drop in the ringtone and i get the same result with the radio turned off and the sim card out. anyone have this issue? also, the voice quality is crap...i am in a area that my nokia 6620 worked fine and i get garbled audio...even at my retail store that has a cellsite onsite...i get garbled audio. i mean not even 100 yards away from the site. i check with an engineer at cingular i know ( i work at cingular) and he verified that the call drops didn't seem to be from the network side and that the handset must be the problem....i am going to try a axalto sim as soon as my order comes in..i cant just get one at a store since im an employee.

basically, i sum the treo up to a really nice PDA that sucks as a phone. i am willing to wait on a sim to make sure the resets arent the pda and the sim...but still, i doubt the voice quailty will be corrected with a sim.

has anyone owned a treo 650 that has great voice quality? i mean it should it is a high end device. also, after going to a axalto sim, anyone able to confirm that the treo 650 works fine...even the audio quality and reception?

You'll get responses on both sides of this issue. Personally, mine has had WAY too many problems as far as I am concerned. Voice quality and volume are nowhere near acceptable, the reset issues are annoying, and Palm doesn't seem too interested in correcting the problem as neither my call to them nor to 3rd level tech at Cingular have been returned and we're pushing a week now. Unreal. BUT, I love the phone and need the QWERTY, so I hold on to some hope. As an aside, I was able to stop the reboots through a temp fix posted elsewhere here and on Palm's forums regarding deleting a folder on the desktop and a hard reset on the device. So far it works, but VersaMail and XpressMail seem to start the problem back up again when configured.
