Old Analog Account

BTW this topic has come up in a very popular fishing forum where I have been a member for 4 years so please excuse this newbe for asking a lot of questions on his first post.
I have maintained an old analog account (11-12 yrs) with Cincular Wireless (Originally Bell South) for use in remote areas where i fish in the Everglades National Park. None of the new ditigal phones work in these remote areas except satellite phones and the old analog phones. The reason is Cell towers are not allowed in most of the park.
My question is: I still have my original Ericsson DF 388 vi analog phone and it is still working fine. I have been told by these sales type people who work in the Cincular company centers that when this phone stops working, THEY will not "connect" another phone to this analog account.
What are my alternatives? Can i upgrade to better analog phone and get my existing cell phone number programmed into another phone, without going through Cingular?
And if this is possible, who does this kind of work? And what analog phones are still available?
