Can I use my ipod ac usb charger for bb?

I have an ipod and it came with an ac usb power supply. Anyone know if I can plug my blackberry usb cable into that and charge my bb like I do my ipod? Or is it a different amount of volts?

No. The Apple iPod USB cable is USB male to Apple Dock Connector. Won't work on a Blackberry with a mini-USB charger.

Some digital camera cables (just the same cable) can be used to charge your Blackberry, and the Blackberry USB cable can be used to charge/sync your camera with your computer.

Yes, this should work.

My BB charger says 5V 0.5A (500mA) - the USB standard, and I use it to charge my IPod Mini.

I assume the IPod charger output says 5V 0.5A also (check the label) so as long as you use the BB cable it should work.

Yes, this should work -- just use your existing Blackberry MiniUSB cable instead of using the Apple Dock Cable.

The neat thing is that this is completely safe with all chargers that has a USB port! (Unlike for old power adaptors -- BOOM!)

I have never heard of anybody damage their equipment from a brand name USB charger, even if you mix-and-match good brand name USB chargers / USB cables / chargeable USB devices.

USB is always standardized at 5 volts, you're guaranted 5 volts

(Okay, for you electronics engineering majors -- plus or minus a few meaningless fraction of a volt, but that goes with computers too -- one computer may output 4.995 volts and another may output 5.013 volts through USB. These are all within USB voltage fluctuation specification.).

That must be something new ... I thought all the iPod chargers had a firewire connector ...

They have an optional USB charger as the new Mini does not come with an ac adapter.

Will have to pass this along to my sister who for some strange reason uses 2 BB's.

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry 7520: BlackBerry7520/4.0.0 UP.Browser/5.0.3.3 UP.Link/5.1.2.12)

Thanks a lot for all the replies.

I just picked up the USB charger for my ipod photo and more specifically as a travel charger for my ipod shuffle so I guess it now has more than one (or two) uses

I apologize for not reading that more clearly.

I thought you were referring to the cable.

As I have a 4G iPod 20GB and a 1G iPod Mini, they both came with Firewire wall chargers.

You should (theoretically) be able to charge your iPod with your BB USB adapter with USB Dock connector cable, and charge your BB with the iPod Charger with USB BB cable.
