Picked up a 7100g - help a new 7100 user!

I've been using Blackberries forever - back when people were like "what the heck is that thing?" - I've always used the plain 'ol original ones, I upgraded once to a 957 and used it for years and years, never a barf, always bulletproof.

I felt the need for a new toy, so I picked up a 7100g. I looked at the keyboard and thought "I dunno..." but people seem to adjust to it.

Sooo... for a new 7100 user who is struggling with the input method, is there any advice on how to help yourself get used to it? I thought I saw someone somewhere say something like "don't look at the keys" or something like that - anyone have any advice or anything on how to get yourself to get used to it or to let go fo the need to take 10 seconds to spell out a single word?

On the old 'Berry I could compose messages until I ran out of space and could do it really quickly. I expect that you can't quite do that on these 7100 series, but I imagine (or so I hear) that you can get pretty quick, right?

Help!

Thanks to all,

--Doug

No.......don't look at the screen. Just look at the keys and type the word and then hit the space bar. Then you can look up and make sure the right word is typed, and then go onto the next word. 99% of the time the blackberry will guess the right word.

I agree, the 7100 ususally comes up with the correct word, as long as it was spelled correctly. I mostly run into trouble when typing uncommon words and if the BB doesn't guess correctly, the correct spelling may not be offered. Then I go back and check as each letter is typed. On the whole, the 7100 is not the easiest BB for typing long messages.
