Few 7100T Questions *NEWBIE*

Hello, I just got a 7100T from Tmo. I'm still on 3.8 or whatever. I know I don't have 4.0 yet. Not sure if I should upgrade or not. Also, I was wondering if the built in browser for this thing is good enough or if I should get another seeing as that there's at least 1 company that I know of that makes one.

Any ways, I've tried searching and I'm sure it's been covered plenty... I just can't find my answers!! Thanks in advance for the help!

Put it back in the box and return it. Get another blackberry model... Sorry I had 2 7100t so far and the 3rd one just got here this afternoon. I have no faith that this one will be better.

infosecgeek's (well documented) comments notwithstanding, if you are going to be using your BB for e-mail the majority of the time, get the classic sized BB (either the 7200 or 7700 series), but if you are going to be using the BB for voice most of the time, stick with the 7100t.

V4.0 has some bug fixes - not a lot of additional functionality - but it does include wireless sync of contacts, notes and tasks if you have BES 4.0 also.

If you have access to a BES, the browser is pretty good. Without a BES, you probably won't be happy with the pre-installed one and may want to look at a third party solution.

Sorry... I didn't elaborate due to the massive amount of issues I have already documented within other threads.

Actually, the BlackBerry Web Client will allow for MDS as of 4.0, so if you get T-Mobile to enable MDS for your BlackBerry Web Client account, send the service book from the profiles screen, you'll be able to browse just like if you were on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

I'm primarially just using this for email and web browsing. I don't have access to a BES. So sounds like an upgrade to 4.0 is in order?

When I did the 4.0 upgrade, my BB on the main screen at the top of the list of it asks for enterprise activation

If you are on BlackBerry Web Client, you should just have to go into Profile, select change handheld, enter in your new PIN and IEMI, save, then send yourself the service books again (found at the bottom of the Profiles page) and this should remove that icon.

If it doesn't, you can simply hide the Enterprise Activation icon....It's used for if you are a business user and travelling but your BlackBerry breaks and you have to pick up a new one. Simply put your SIM card in the new BlackBerry, call your IT department, they'll give you a password that you'll enter in the Enterprise Activation and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server will transfer all the settings that you had on your old BlackBerry to your new one (service books, option settings, icon placements, etc) so your new BlackBerry will look just like your old one.
