Windows ME and vx8000 issues

Hi all. I am having a problem where the various software can not interface with the phone driver, despite being displayed in device manager with no problems. I have tried bitpim, qpst, and verizon mobile phone book, none see the phone. Here is the issue in more detail.
My PC OS is Windows ME. I am using a data cable for the vx7000 and the LG drivers and connecting to a VX8000. I have two sets actually, one cable and drivers from Verizon, and another from an interenet store. In both the cable connection is a good fit to the phone so no issues wiggling the cable etc.
The OS does recognize the phone when I plug it into the cable and machine. Here is a screen shot of the device manager view.
According to various directions out there the actual com port should be listed with the driver name. What I have showing is "VCOMM". You can however see COM3 in the modem details. Both views are in the screen shot. Bitpim shows the same information as in the device manager. When i select the phone driver in bitpim settings it automatically configures to com3.
Despite this, both Bitpim and Qpst do not access the phone. Qpst claims there is no phone at com3. And Pitpim gives errors when trying to get the filesystem or data, and nothing is in the log tab. I can copy the string of error here if anyone feels it would help them.
I also have the mobile office kit from Verizon for the 7000. I get the same exact result from bitpim and wpst using their drivers. The quicklink mobile phonebook that comes with the office kit also does not find the phone.
Any suggestions and ideas are appreciated. Thanks!
PS..
I have been doing various searches on this site, google, yahoo etc in attempts to find a solution. So far I have not found much help. This is the only post I saw that involved similar info and no one replied to them.

Which of the drivers are you using?

lol i was gonna say something very similar to that..
step 1. get rid of ME
step 2. get XP!!
other than that i can offer NO help because i HATE windows ME with a passion..

Thank you for the suggestions. And any future ideas someone may have.
Hehe.. after seeing 30 views of my question.. I began to expect upgrade to xp would be the suggestion. I have had no problems with ME till now, and have xp on another machine. I will look into upgrading.
Plug and play issues are not only OS bound. It has occured to me that it could also be the bios is not able to handle the device. So XP may not solve this problem.
To answer Wolverine's question. I am using the LG drivers for the vx7000.
Thanks again!

This is what i see:

I would try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers.

Not a bad idea. But I have tried reinstalling two sets of LG drivers a few times now. Both provide me with the same result every time.
Thank you for providing me with your screen shot. That was very helpful. Infact it gave me an idea for something else to track down and try.
Hmmm.. facinating

Did you actually get anything useful from that site.
Try these drivers though: http://ds1.my-mam.com/CDMA/USB/ModemSetup-CDMA_USB.zip
Or these if first set dont work: http://ds1.my-mam.com/CDMA/USB/Pure...MA_Pure-USB.zip

AHA! I think you may have lead me to the solution.
I will report back shortly with my findings.

Okay so I got things working!! Thank you so much for suggesting those drivers!!
I got it working but definitely not according to normal conventions however. Here is the detail if you are interested.
I installed the drivers in MdmSetup_CDMA_Pure-USB.zip, selecting the vx6100 as my phone. Interestingly the first thing it wanted to do was update my version of USB. After it did that and installed the drivers the programs could not see the phone still. But it did load the drivers as WDM which I saw on your screen shot. This got me thinking to try and install the LG drivers over these drivers. So I did that.. The device manager looked the same, modem was still using COM6 and no com mentioned at the port list. So at first it seemed things were still broken. I decided to run bitpim anyway since it can show me the com ports and what they are doing. Interestingly enough I saw that the phone is using 2 com ports! COM6 and 7. So I pointed bitpim to com7 and it works! amazingly! Qpst pointing to com7 also works. Even the quicklink phone book, that VZ office kit comes with, scanned the ports, found the phone and works. I can only conclude that one com appears to be for the modem and a second for the data transfers.
Yet more bizarre the other driver package you pointed me to which includes the vx7000 drivers, will not detect the phone and install. Hehe.. so so so strange.
So after that I am trying to see why in the world this is working. Poking around it seems that the Mobile Action drivers are the ones being used. I can not find what of the LG drivers are being used. I then decided to un install the LG drivers, and try my 2nd set of LG drivers. Those do not seem to work. So un installed those and went back to the original LG drivers that worked.
So bitpim and qpst went back to working. But now for some reason the quicklink phone book can no longer detect the phone. I compared things and the only difference seems to be that now the phone is using com3 and com4. It detects at com4 for a longer time than the other ports but does not confirm location of the device. Very strange behavior. There must be more wrong here than just a com port difference. Nothing I do seems to make it work again.
Not the end of the world though. The important stuff bitpim and qpst work. The other was just a nice to have.
So thanks again! I am happily downloading my content off the phone now.
