So I tried to connect my 7100t to my Apple Powerbook (new) with the built-in bluetooth. They paired fine, but my pb reported that my phone doesn't support using it as a modem??? Can anyone verify this or link a page that discusses this?

Thanks!

bt on the blackberrys is voice only, not data. You won't be able to transfer anything or use the bb as a modem....

Not with Bluetooth. Not on Mac.

But yes, you can use a BlackBerry as a modem for laptop -- connected by a cable.

If you want to talk to the PocketMac people about writing a BlackBerry modem driver, you can try...

For instructions on how to use a BlackBerry as a modem for a laptop (PC based only, not Mac), see http://www.BerryFAQ.com

aww i really wanted to be able to connect via BT with my 7100t. is this a hardware issue? or does the 4.0 or possibly a future update fix this issue? thanks.

RIM has purposely limited the Bluetooth to audio/wireless headset only for security purposes. Just like there is no IR. No data transfers over the Bluetooth connection.

It does not change in 4.0. In the future, maybe, but only if corporations and other large entities can turn it off.

Sorry, I meant you won't be able to transfer or use it as a modem with BT.... guess I should have finished my sentence.
