light up battery, tricks?

recently got a nice clear house and a lightup battery from daydeal. oddly dispite what the description says it does come with a new keypad and front buttons.

got a flashing white battery with it too, however i have yet to see these led's actually work.

i noticed the little extra bit that comes out of the top of the battery and am guessing this has something to do with it. of the two on the forums with a clear case and a light up battery they appear to be different.

this one that is idendical to mine, and has the flap folded under.

then this one that has the flap on the bottom.

does anyone know roughly how these batteries know when to flash? or do i have to have my phone set to not conserve power so it picks up a flash that isn't currently there.

Make a phone call, receive a phone call, send/receive txt msgs, use the wap, or turn the phone off/on. All these things will make the battery start flashing.

If you use another phone near it it'll start flashing too. The lil thing that comes off the battery detects RF signals and starts flashing.

hmmm.. i must have a defective little unit then because it never flashs. infact it seems to degrade my reception even.

sooooooooooooooo return it. I have a light up battery and it has the thingey on the top and lights up all of the time!
