Got my ht2 from Fido this week, and while the rest of the device seems pretty solid, the whole keypad assembly seems really cheap -- on mine the black plastic backing behind the keypad is misaligned, making for a huge gap at the bottom of the panel where the backlight bleeds through...

I expected better; has anyone else had build quality issues with their ht2?

Mine feels quite solid. There's a tiny gap at the bottom, and actually it's a wee bit uneven in an area a bit to the left of center, but I quite like the feel of the KB in general, and the gap isn't really anything to make a huge fuss over, at least on mine.

Just noticed that gap at the bottom of my unit as well. Hasn't really bothered me. I personally love the build of the phone. I think the design is quite solid. However I think my opinion might be biased as I'm probably making comparisons between this and the HT1 which was almost completely horrible build wise.

Compare your phone to the store model and if its that much of a difference to bother you then you should seriously consider returning it for new one since you just purchased it...

I found the build to be MUCH MORE solid than my Hiptop1, and it feels and looks so much better too, happy about the improvement and doesn't look cheap.. maybe just u'res??
