How to lock carrier/service?

I'm gonna be going to Vegas next month, and was wondering how to lock my service to T-Mobile, so as not to get charged for roaming on other carriers and whatnot.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is no roaming charges for the voice & data services in the 48 contiguous states.

I know this, but Tmo told me to lock the carrier service, so that the phone doesn't go into any other networks if I fly over an area that doesn't have Tmo service.

What they were referring to was a setting that can be found which either allows you to roam or does not allow you to roam on another providers data network. From the main screen press the menu button, select controls, then select wireless and voila check out the setting. However, just to clarify because T-Mobile does not charge customers for data roaming while in the US you don't have to worry about it. When you may consider it is if you travel internationally, where the per megabyte charges are: $10.00/MB in Canada and $15.00/MB internationally. And just as a heads up if you do end up roaming while passing through a non-T-Mobile if you have any problems connecting to T-Mobile be sure to power cycle your phone(turn it off then on). This will allow it to reregister to T-Mobile if it does not automatically reregister.

So, to simplify, while flying from NYC to Vegas, and staying in Vegas for a few weeks, I shouldn't need to alter anything and I should be just fine?

Thanks a bunch.

Your phone, per FCC/FAA regulations, must be off while in flight. Thus, this should not be a problem.

Ok they probably answered this before but I just want to make sure, plain and simple...I do not need to trun ooff data roaming on other carriers on my new sidekick. I got worried because when I went to the wireless controls in the menu it said extra fees may apply for data roaming so I turned the roaming off. Can I turn it back on and not get charged any roaming?? Thanks!
