where are drivers supposed to be in pc?

have a lg6100 downloaded every driver i can find all to one folder "6100" still when i open bitpim 0.7.28 it says retreiving then error box says "cannot connect to phone phone is not responding while transitioning mode from none to brew."
tried different settings)com ports)
changed settings on phone usb-to RS-232C(com port)
what do i need to do to connect to phone?

Did you actually install the drivers or just put them in that folder?
