I purchased the Sidekick 2 last monday. So far, my experience has been that webpages load very slow. I wish there were a way to access the wap version of certain sites b/c it takes forever to load pictures. Pictures do show up and in my opinion they are pretty good for being very compressed. But as I said, it is really slow. I hope this helps.

I purchased the Prepaid Sidekick 2 from T-Mobile on Friday. I returned it to them the next day. My experience with it was that the Web is slower than a 56K modem, the Camera quality really sucks; it was real blurry. I don't know if everyone experienced the blurry pictures but, I didn't like it. Only thing that was fast and accurate was the AOL instant messanger, and the speakerphone. I didn't use Yahoo Messanger. I feel like the Sidekick 2 overall is a 4 out of a 10 on a rating scale of 10 being the max. I see that "I can live without a Sidekick" I don't need it.

I hope when the Sidekick 3 comes out next year, that EDGE will be on it, and a Mega-Pixel camera will come on it.

I just got my sidekick, after the outage was over and I havent had any problems with the web browser (crossing fingers) but I think it depends on your signal strength too, because when I am upstairs in my office and my signal only has two bars the surfing seems a bit slower.

I always have FULL signal. I don't think thats the problem. Its the Sidekick 2 web browser and the GPRS network thats making it real slow.

The signal has a lot to do with it, but the bigger issue that makes browsing slow is the proxy server that Danger runs on the backend. When you are browsing, all your pages go to the proxy server first where it compresses the images and text (and reformats the pages for he SKII browser). Only after all of that work has been done, does your SKII start getting the page. The problem is that the proxy server is REALLY SLOW at compressing images.

Turn off the view image option for your SKII browser and your browsing experience will speed up 10x.

I didn't like the Sidekick 2, thats why I returned it back to T-Mobile the next day.

Only use the show pictures option when absolutely nessisary and you will notice a marked difference. Too many ppl are so used to broadband connections and T1's that anything less seems rediculous.
