Pretty straightforward question; I've seen a lot of "maybes", so I was wondering if there was a firm "yes" on this question.

It will work, but requires some "modification". It can be "forced".
Cables made specifically for the VX7000 work without a problem.

"Modification"? Care to be more specific?

Cuz I've got an 8900, and I'm (hopefully) getting the 8000 today, so I'd like to use the same data cable if at all possible.

theres like a tab that gets in the way, but you can file it off with a nail file I've heard. I just ordered the 7000 cable, so I won't ever find out.
