MPX220 to upgrade firmware or not...

Currently I have a Motorola MPX220 with the dreaded .325 firmware.

I have the Motorola upgrade tool downloaded and installed on my computer. But...

What I'm wondering is... If I upgrade the phone to v1.3, will it still work on my T-Mobile network? Or will I have to unlock it then?

Your phone must already be unlocked since you are using a T-Mobile SIM, the MPx 220 is intially locked to Cingular so the fact that your able to use a T-Mobile SIM your phone is already unlocked.

But I thought in firmware .325 they all were unlocked at that point.

I'm just debating if I should go forward with the firmware update or not. Wondering if anyone has tried it yet.

You should trade it in for an upgrade ROM at a Cingular store, the Moto update tool is not available at this time

did they take it back then cuz it was released about a month ago--before I sold my mpx 220 I downloaded it from moto's site--am I missing something here?--It should still be available

Yes, Motorola appears to have taken down the Update Tool for now.

I called Motorola about this as I have an AT&T mpx220 with .343 firmware. Motorola's reply was that since the previous update tool was meant for Cingular phones only it was taken down. They are currently working on new firmware updates for more than just the Cingular phones and said that hopefully they will be released in a few weeks.
So check back on the page in about a month or so.
