Hi people.
As I am not 100% clued up on the latest mobile technology and I wondered if you people on here could help me.
I'm looking for a video phone to be able to store videos on. I want to be able to store episodes of my favourite comedy clips on like Little Britain and Friends and other funny shorter clips.
I am wanting to be able to use a USB cable to transfer these videos from my computer to my phone, (is it possible to get a converter to turn my DVD's into phone-friendly format and smaller size before transferring to my phone?)
So far I have been looking at the Motorola E1000 with a memory card, which phones would you reccommed for doing the above video stuff? I was thinking of the Nokia 6230 but my mate has that phone and he says you can't store big video clips on it because you can only save files the same size as your phone memory (as you have to save them on phone memory first before transferring to memory card).
Hope someone can help me.
Thanks a lot!
Jon

Nokia Symbian (s60) phones would fit ur criteria ver well. Nokias 6600, 6620, 7610, 6670, 6260, 6630, Ngage and NgageQD. Now look em up and see which one you like more
All of them are capable of playing movies/clips etc using the builtin player, but I suggest that u get smartmovie (a 3rd party software www.lonelycatgames.com )It will let u watch movies/clips full screen with awesome quality.

You can also look in the Series 60 Forum to get an idea of what people are using:

Thanks a lot guys!
Do you know if memory cards are available for these symbian phones?
And if so, can you save files to the memory card that are bigger than the phones memory (as my mate said he can't do it on the 6230?).

all of them can take MMC or RS-MMC cards.
u can set the card memory to receive files on almost all these phones, the exceptions being Ngage, ngage QD and earlier firmware versions of 6260

Thanks a lot Trekker!
I think I'm going to go with the Nokia 6600 and a memory card.
Does the memory card on this phone go inside the phone (out of view)?
Also, if you upgrade the memory does that make the video capture time longer? (because it's only 10 seconds I believe)
Once again, thanks loads!

nice... i too have a 6600.. using it with a 512mb MMC
The MMC goes under the battery, adjacent to where u put the SIM. That means that to switch MMC u have to switch phone off and take out the battery, but if u get a big card, then it is no longer an issue. I still have 200mb free on mine, so there is no need for me to switch the card
Well the builtin default video recorder can only make 10sec videos. But the good thing is that u can install 3rd party video recording software that can make videos as long as ur MMC can handle it. A good one is Philips Camcoder Pro.
Check out the links in my sig for some useful programs for ur 6600.

I can't thank you enough mate!
You've been an excellent help in choosing my new phone.
Top guy!
Thanks Trekker!!!!

One final question though.
Will buying a 1gb mmc for the 6600 slow it down too much?
Posted by: Trekker
well some ppl say that a bigger MMC slows it down a little, but I haven't noticed any slowness. Even if it slows it down, it is not noticable.
You will fall in love with the 6600 if u use it to its full potential.
I have videos on my phone, office documents, pdf files, games, ebooks.. and a lot more. It really is a VERY smart phone.. LOL

Once again thank-you.
Are the MMC cards specially designed for phones or is it just a stadard MMC card used for digital cameras etc?
Thanks

And what is the difference between MMC and RS-MMC?
(sorry for all the questions!!)
I've Ordered the Nokia 6600 now, should be coming Wednesday!
Can't wait!!

yea the MMC can work in the digital camera/pda etc and vice versa
RS-MMC r just Reduced Sized-MMC. They are smaller than MMC, but they come with an adapter that u can attach to them to make them bigger so that u can use them with devices that take MMC also.
