The new Honda Truck is fugly!!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Anyone else seen the new Honda Ridgeline truck in person? The dealer by my house has a silver one and a black one, and those trucks make the first version of the Chevy Avalanche(gray body side cladding) look good!! And no optional V-8? What gives??

Posted by: eimajuno

I saw one at the LA auto show. To compete in the truck market, they'd better come up with a V8 or it is not going to sell good.

Posted by: Skylinepilot

Quite ugly imo, looks like the child of an Escalade Truck and the Nissan Titan.

hmmm it does look sad.. if no v8.. so what the specs on it? dont tell me its 4 cylinder and it has a vtec engine?

It's got a 255hp 3.5L V6 with only 252 lb/ft or torque. It's got decent horsepower, but the torque is a little weak for a truck.

Maybe they want to test the market with just a V6. Or maybe they think they can sell trucks on existing reputation and die hard Honda enthusiats.

it's probably good for those people that needs a truck to job sites accessible only by a truck....

you know, for those admins and top level engineers.

Posted by: phomp

I like it

Posted by: 91RS

I've got pictures of the concept from last years car show, it was ugly then and it's ugly now. Also, who the heck puts a v6 in a full size truck? HELLO!

Posted by: Frosty Vibe

"...and best of all, it's a Honda"

That's supposed to sell this thing?

Is the pick-up truck segment really that lucrative?

Posted by: nasauti

As stupid as a V6 in a pickup and a somewhat "controversial" styling (I like it though), they are still gonna sell a million of them...

I'm not sure anyone knows why....

Posted by: gq_fuzion

very ugly imo

I dunno about that. I don't think Honda will beable to break Toyota's grip on the Japanese truck market.

As they say, whenever you see a truck in a 3rd world country with militants aboard in big letters is TOYOTA on the tailgate

Saw one on the road today, didn't look any better to me (sometimes this has an effect to me)

I saw and get inside that truck on the dealer yesterday and I think it's not gonna be a comfortable ride. The engine is just "okay" I guess, it's not VTEC but it's 3.5 and 200ish HP (Galant is 3.8 and 240HP). The inside is spacious but it's not good for short little guy like me (I'm about 5-7)

255hp(as stated in my previous post) and yes it does have VTEC. I'm not trying to flame you or anything, it's just that if you start posting stuff that isn't correct, other people who think they know more about cars than you will start flaming.

I like it. The engine size is questionable, but Honda lovers usually like Honda products no matter what. Even Toyota took awhile to get with the mainstream. Hopefully it has better brakes than the 2003-2005 Accords, which many say need a brake job every 12,000 miles.

A poor man's Escalade EXT sans the two spport bars, "bling bling" grille/rims, V8....and much smaller. Do you want a Tonka or a truck? If the latter then get a Sliverado or Flareside.

the Ridgeline is not a fullsize truck. nor does it falsely claim to be (toyota tundra) it is based of the pilot's platform. It is not for guys who feel they need a truck with enough torque to smoke the tires everytime they tap the accel pedal but for honda loyalists who need a truck and want more refinement than what detroit offers. Honda isnt going after F150, Silverado/Sierra, Ram buyers but its pulling Accord buyers in for something exciting and brand new

I agree, this is really an enthusiast type of thing and definitelly something new for Honda fans.

I think the truck looks ok but i wouldn't buy it.

I will always pick this over other trucks. Having a V8 is nice but when you look at how much gas is these days you'll probably cry when filling up. So I think Honda has targetted the right market this time. As well as the overall reputations of reliability, it can't go wrong. It looks really good imo.

Took the words right outta my mouth.

I like how there are no fender wells in the bed (so I heard) and there is an under storage comparement that is water tight (Agian, things I heard from a buddy who is a car salemen)

Posted by: rteenie22

I cant imagine it not havin fender wells becas it is not equipped wit a flare side bed. but i dunno i havent seen one that up close

Posted by: TurboWho

Well I think the bed just sits high enough that its not a problem

Posted by: Ianbiz

i saw a few of them around. It looks tight when clean and in black with the grill modded.

overall, its an american honda which makes me

Posted by: B0000rt

So you're saying this is the next tuner truck?

Look out B-Series or Syclone?

Posted by: alpha tag

motorweek did a review on it... tore it to shreds...

it's not a full size according to them, it's aimed at the mid-size market

if anything, it's good for urban use.. that's about it haha...

So it's basically a Ford Escape, but in truck form, so that people can get grocerys in a Pickup Truck now, instead of a 'city SUV' so that they can waste even more gas?

Posted by: rteenie22

turbowho cars.com just did a review and I saw pics of the bed. no fenderwells and a trunk compartment. Nissan and Honda introduced features on their trucks that should become standard throughout the industry

Posted by: MapleLeafs

it might have good gas mileage compared to other trucks, and it might be only for honda enthusiasts, but all the plastic makes it look like if i hit it with my car or went into a constructions site (off road) it might fall apart

Posted by: 91RS

I just saw one in person today, they look 100X more ugly in person than they do it the pictures!

Posted by: Hawaiian Boy

I've seen one in person yesterday and at the local auto show a few weekends ago, and they need some serious work.
