Need an engineer....GX32 and TM150 same build? (or close)

I have looked at what seems to be almost all of the TM150 threads and did not see these questions: I recently gave up on some Motorola (horrid) and Nokia (great, but fragile) and bought the TM150. Since I gave up Bluetooth to get this phone, I expected a lot. Well, love the screen (holy cow) and the camera, and I am sold.

But, since I am ne who wants to know: I wonder if Sharp took the existing GX30/GX32 design and just used it for the TM150, just customizing certain details for T-Mobile? The two units are identical in look and feel, just not features. Which begs this: does the Bluetooth hardware and or/infrared hardware exist in the TM150, but are just disable and/or hidden? It would seem odd to have a modular design for the GX32 which allows certain "integrated" functions to be physically removed.

It would be weird to see that the TM150 actually has some of the amenities (quad-band GSM, too) of the GX32, but they are just disabled in the specific phone firmware or something. It would be interesting to see if the physical electronics were actually in there, just "turned off". Anyone wanna take apart their TM150 and dig a little?

Just kidding - unless someone has already done this.

I highly doubt bluetooth and infrared are hidden in the phone. It wouldn't make sense to have a bluetooth capable phone and not sell it as one. The moto v600 has bluetooth but the v300 does not. Those aren't the only two features missing from the TM150 either, there is no MP3 player and there is no strobe light for the camera and incoming calls.

Maybe Tmobile wanted a STRIPPED down version of Gx32 to keep the price down and something that will be different the SmarTone version.

Interesting - the TM150 is probably just a stripped down version of the GX32 then. The screen is what counts (hehe) anyway.

thats exactly what it is

I wonder if you could flash the TM150 to GX-32 firmware and make it play mp3s?

Okay so it's not happening... but i can always dream.

I used both phones at the same time and the things that I found out are as following

1) TM150 is faster in saving pics to SD than Gx-32

2) Pics taken with TM150 looks but more lively on the screen than on Gx-32 (Gx32 pics are darker)

3) Menus on Gx-32 a alot faster than Tm150.

4) Headset on TM150 was louder than Gx-32.

5) Both have excellent signal strength.

6) Even though they both use same battery, TM150's battery lasted longer than Gx-32.

But after all the testing.........i still ended up keeping the Gx-32 and selling Tm150 ...because it offereed more functionality than TM150.

I dont think they look alike.

From all the pictures I have seen of both the TM150 and the GX32, they look identical (not similar, but exactly the same except for minor cosmetic differences in the plastic casing maybe).

there is the speaker grill and the LED light that is on the GX32

Wow they do seem to match up quite well. See for yourself.

Even the hinges are the same.
But the camera, speaker and secondary display seem to be higher up on the GX32 while on the TM150 they are more centered. And of course there's that LED and the antenna size.

There are only small fysical differences, but I guess they have a lot in common. I have the TM200, and bought a stubby aerial for the gx32, and it fits perfectly on the TM200, and you can use the same usb-cable for all the models.

These two are probablt the exact same design, except the Tm150 has certain features either physically missing or have been disabled by firmware. The photo differences make me think they are the SAME phone (I mean, the look exactly the same except the cosmetic casing differences).

Nice to know the Tm200 and these units use the same aerial and charger, etc. May plunk down for the TM200 this summer - looks like a great unit. Want some time to tell if it is as nice as it is hyped up to be.
