Need help w/my Sharp TM200

Hi. If anyone could help me out with a couple questions here, I'd REALLY appreciate it. I just bought a Sharp TM200 this weekend and I'm having a couple problems with it. I'm not technically stupid, but they have me stumped. When I try to dial a number using my address book, i get an error message that reads across the screen "Active Diverts" and it also shows an X. Then the message goes away and number dials. I can't find anything about this message or what it means. Has anyone else had this problem or know what it might be...it's really annoying. My second question has to do w/the ringtones. I know the phone does not have mp3 ringers (which I'm really dissapointed with), so I made a SMAF ringer with Yamaha SMAF Converter (converted mp3 to wav to SMAF). I put it on the SD card and transfered it to the phone under Sounds. When I try to access it, it shows up in the menus, but it's grayed out and won't let me do anything. I can't listen to it or use it as a ringer.

If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. I've just switch carriers and phones soley because of this model phone and it's frustrating to be having issues with it.

Thanks.

Hmm, the SMAF's work for me okay. Sure that you named it *.mmf?
I think that message is a "helpful" message from the network reminding you that you have forwarding active while you're roaming. It makes a lot more sense in Europe but not much over here. Are you using T-Mobile or Cingular? Where are you? I've seen this message in Atlanta.

The file is named .mmf. Maybe I should try again??? Did I do the process right?

I'm in Pensacola, FL. and I have TMobile. As far as the Active Diverts, in the setings, under Connectivity is the call diverts menu. I've never set any of the options, but i chose "Cancel All" in the menu and it still gives me the message. I called TMobile and they've given me the phone number for Sharp, so I guess I'll sit on the phone with them. Although this is really annoying, I guess my main concern is that I might somehow get charged an extra fee. I don't know if it makes any difference, but the phone was originally purchased in Germany.

Make sure the file is called something like "ringtone.mmf" or whatever you want. Just make the suffix .mmf.
You won't be charged anything extra for sure. I suspect this is just an instance of the phone was designed for European networks. I doubt Sharp US will be able to help you because they don't sell the TM200 here (yet?).

The ringtone is titled bittersweet.mmf. I guess I'll just try to do it again and see if I have better luck. I'm on hold now with Sharp, but I think you're probably right that they can't help me. I really like the phone and hate that I'm having some minor issues with it.

Thanks for your help!

In that case, I suspect it's too big. Must be <50K bytes. Is it small enough?

Posted by: bethw32563

That would be the problem...it's 88k. I'll reduce the size and see if that'll work.

I got the size down to 45k and it works. Thanks for your help!
