The new 8930 and the PPC 6600.

The PPC 6600 is pretty sweet looking, and loaded. For those wanting to replace their 5050 or were waiting for its replacement, you will be pleased. More RAM, more ROM, FULL BLUETOOTH, QWERTY keyboard with slider design, and a detachable battery...it also has a 0.3 MP camera and can shoot MPEG-4 full motion video quite well...should be a very nice device.

The 8930 looks similar to the Samsung A600, but features a 1.3 MP camera, and a video camera...with the improved reliability of the last series of Audiovox phones (8910 and 8615), this should also be a nice phone as well.

I have been selling a lot of the Audiovox phones lately, mainly due to the complaints i have been hearing about the A660's from people...they fit a nice spot, as they are well featured, and not too expensive...i haven't had any complaints on them either...the people who went to them, were very satisfied.

Good Job Audiovox.

Rumours? We don't start rumours, when we say a phone is coming. We state facts and not rumours. We knew for a long time this phone was coming.

It will be more expensive than the current price of the A600.

Yes, but you have to activate it on a Bell line first or buy it at the unsubsidized price.

full BT...not just for headsets and carkits like the 7250...you can do wireless sync and i believe he said you can use it as a wireless modem too (like digital data to go, but no need for the cable).

Posted by: dirtyjeffer

i was also told that Bell is working with RIM to offer their service on a device like the Harrier...can you imagine that?...all the features of a loaded Pocket PC, with the email functionality of a RIM...now that would be one "killer device".

Posted by: drhollett

Is it just me or does the Vox 8930 seem like it's their version of the Samsun A600? Just with a better camera and a speakerphone.

Any why does the 8930 have pic of a Sony Cybershot F717 digital camera on it's screen (phonescoop link above)? Did sony make the lens or is Audiovox just asking for a lawsuit? lol

Audiovox likes others to make stuff first, then they can make their version of it, with more features, for less money...being first isn't always an advantage.

Rogers is going to be offering this on the Treo 650 as well. I wonder how BB is going to deal with this new competition...

This is a great feature and one that would give the consumer more choice.

will it be more expensive than the samsung a670?

i was looking at the price for the a600 on prepaid (it will come to about 300 + tax with a new account) and the a670 will be about 450 + tax...

im hoping it will be in the 350 - 400 range, including a prepaid account...

the harrier will provide serious competition for those blackberry enthusiasts. take that 7100R!

Yes I did. The 7250 is still on the possible list but I can't seem to get used to the idea of using it as a phone. Just seems the wrong size/shape as I have been a flip phone user for years. I just can't see myself holding it up to my ear to talk.

The RIM word/excel software seems expensive compared to PalmOS but I'm hoping with more offerings it will come down.

What I really want is a great phone that will have full PDA features, synch a few word & excel files and allow me to have a wireless headset for travelling. I will also add a time tracking and vehicle log program.... and maybe a GPS. All that and NO CAMERA!

Rogers is offering the MyMail service, which is not provided by RIM. There is a Blackberry platform for PocketPC devices that will be available soon in the US and then Canada.

drhollett - yes, that Phonescoop screen capture is exactly the same.

Can anyone working for Bell advise as to what 6600 standard features might be disabled?

It would be nice to have it "as is" without filetype download restirctions, etc. Someone mentioned months ago that this phone was coming and I have been holding off to see it... and it may solve my need for a modem for my laptop if it works as described.

well it can sync wireless with a BT headset, i'm using Nextlink's AX with mine, not probs so far, yes the apps are expensive compred to the Palm but so are the PPC's...the Harrier is about the same size as a Dell 50v sans sliding keyboard ( i think that's the 66xx?) You may just end up with a phone and PDA connected by cable in the long run.

from what i was told, it is quite loaded...it would be best to wait until its official launch, to really determine if anything you want is disabled...but it should be quite the unit...it should be out within a month.

I was not all that impressed with the 8930 when I held it last year. It was bulky and big. Also, Audiovox is not doing too hot with their megapixel phones (read: Audiovox KingKam @Telus). Depending on the price point (must be under $149 on a three year), it may not move many units.
