Greetings!
I have an 8900 thru Verizon. This phone has been found defective and a new phone has been sent. I have been able to backup the contact list w/ my curitel data cable (USB) and PC-Sync TX-95C. I was able to backup my images using Brewsky. I am not however able to backup the ringers that i had downloaded w/ Verizons GetIt Now!.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thx!

Try using BitPim... I am actually in the process of backing up my entire phone right now. All you should have to do theoreticaly is backup your root (/) directory then restore it when you get your new phone and EVERYTHING should be there.

I thank you for your response. When I try this, i get this error:
Device needs attention - Other CDMA Phone on com5
Other CDMA Phone on com5: The phone is not responding while manipulating the filesystem.
I tried going to /user/sound/ringer/ all i get is this error:
The phone is not responding while manipulating the filesystem.
Any ideas?
Thx!

I have actually had the same problem. Did you set your Curitel MODEM port to COM 5 also? If you didn't do that you will have problems (as I found out by looking a LOT of places) If you have already done that then just try clicking the root again right after you click ok on the error. I get it all the time. Usually it's because my phone shuts off for some freak reason. Check your phone and make sure it isn't off when that error comes up... if you can give more details when you get this error I'm sure someone (or I) can help you. I'm betting it's the com port on the MODEM drivers though.

Hey, sorry it took so long for me to respond. Unfortunately, your suggestion did not work. All I got was the same errors as before. It seems as if that folder (/user/sound/ringer/) is locked. I have tried reinstalling the curitel drivers, assigned both the packet driver and the modem to the same com port, uninstalled and reinstalled EVERYTHING on the comp.
I was able to load .midi ringers onto the phone, just not able to back them up again. To do this, I used Brewsky. When i play the ringer on the phone, the audio level is good. After I set it to ring on a call, either from the phone book or as a regular ringer, it is so quiet when the volume is set to max that I couldn’t hear it. The only way I knew it was ringing was by the fact that the phone itself flashes its blue led's.
I think I am also having problems with this cable that I have. Although I did not get it from ebay, it is the same one that is on ebay. Mine is the charging kind. The usb side of the cable I think is crap. I have ordered a new one (non charging) from the local Radio Shack. Should be here in 'bout a week. I will try to access the phone again at that time. Thanks for the help.
If you or anybody has any ideas on why the ringers are so quite, I would greatly appreciate the help.
Thanks!
