'95 BMW M3
5MT, Estoril Blue
never winter driven
all service records...100% dealer serviced

$19900

Provided the mileage is right (it's not listed) I'm very tempted. Yet, it doesn't make sense to trade my car in at this stage. I'd lose too much. Also all the money that I've invested on mods.

Any suggestions?

Don't do it, keep investing in your car.

That's a nice car, but could you afford the insurance on that thing though??

Posted by: c^2

Yeah insurance is another concern too.

Posted by: chrix

c^2 I dont think insurance would be much different from what you are already paying for the mazda3. Go for the car you want man.

Estoril Blue is **** nice also.

^Are you sure about that? I mean insurance companies arent stupid, they know what an m3 is, compared to a mazda3.

Anyway... stick with the mazda, with used cars come headaches, even with a mighty BMW =]

And the fact he doesn't list the kms means its probably high.

kanetix quote for myself:

2005 mazda 3 5dr GS (only on the list) @$25000:

RBC $7124, $1000 deductible for everything, $1mil liability

2005 mazda 3 5dr GS (only on the list) @$20000:

RBC $7124, $1000 deductible for everything, $1mil liability

1995 BMW M3 @$20000:

RBC $8075, $1000 deductible for everything, $1mil liability

1000 diff...it aint much but considering its a Bimmer...well, its your call.

i saw an M3 as well for sale, 15gs, it was yellow and complete with everything, same year...i dont know if my mums would wanna go halves with the car though. good mileage @ 150k.

yeah thats what they say, if you were to sell your car i bet youd say the same thing if you have 2 rides

Alot of them they post a pic of the car in the middle of nowhere in winter with snow all around.. and they still say "Never winter driven"

I don't think it's worth it to trade in your car for a 10 yr old car, even if it's a M3.

Posted by: sliderboy

Even if it is ten years old, in my opinion, BMW's are pretty awesome; but in this case (where the mileage isn't listed) don't do it.

I agree. BMW or not, ten year old cars are going to give you headaches in maintance and repair costs. And being a BMW, and a performance derivative at that, you know full well running it won't be cheap.

Save up and trade your Mazda3 for an E90 a little while down the line.

Posted by: chrix

thing is, c^2 is probably spending much more on mods for his Mazda3 than what he'd pay for maintainence for the m3

Or get an E46 M3.

Yah, 10 years man, is a big step in the wrong direction.

Yah but he can mod it whenever he has extra money. If the Bimmer is off the road and needs repair, he needs to spend the money right away to get it on the road again.

comon, its not like the Mazda3 will be problem free. At the rate c^2 drives, he will be out of warranty in no time.

Personally I would take the BMW if it's really strictly maintained by the dealer and has no rust. just my opinion

What would you consider the "right" mileage? The old M3's weren't special enough to be considered a "weekend only" car, unlike a Porsche or Ferrari. So expect the mileage to be somewhere in the neighbourhood of the 120,000km+ range.

Now unless you plan on making this your second car, do you honestly want to buy a car as your daily driver with over 100K already on the clock? How many more years do you actually expect to get out of it?

Like I said a long time ago before you bought your current car, there are a lot of ways to get into a nice BMW. But going the cheapo route isn't the smartest way.

This is so very true. If you want a good BMW, you should wait until you can comfortably spend more money on a newer one.

And I would say that the new Mazda will have fewer problems than a 10 yr old BMW.

Posted by: c^2

mmm same as I thought - it makes even less sense now that I've actually spent money on my Mazda

E90 330Ci it is then...someday

Posted by: crazeazn

the fact that u even posted this an option is frightening. i wouldnt touch a used bmw over 4-5 years old max. they have electrical problems and very finicky upkeep cars. from my personal experience (99' 328) and knowing alot of friends with 3 series they just dont hold up too well. the fact that is a M car makes it even worse and pricier to repair. c^2 i dont quite understand your obsession with BMWs but at least be practical about it, you have a nice car already!

oh and get the E90 330i dreams out of your head too. if ur going to buy a bmw buy an M, and thats it. the regular cars dont even hold a candle to the M's...just save up a little while longer

wow i like it lol, if i didnt get my car i wuld so take it.

haha that is if i can afford the insurance which i cant.

so what am i talking about =)
