When I try to send texts now-a-days about 25% of the time i get a message failed error, and it i choose details it says 'format unsupported', then after about 2 attempts at resending the message finally goes. Is this just an issue with cingular or my ngage? Thanks!

turns out that I think it's an issue with Cingular, when I send messages with my v551 it does the same thing, well kinda, it doesn't say unsupported format, but it takes 4-5 tries to send it.

oic..maybe u should call cingular about it

i don't know if this has anything to do with the n-gage or not, but on my 3620 when i try to send text messages i have to input the area code and even the country code or else the effin text message won't send. if i just keep the basic number it there the message refuses to send at all. yeah i'm on cingular too, so probably their fault.

its on cingular and your phone. I had that issue when i was back in the TDMA world with my 8260. They actually locked my SMS at first. Had to get them to unlock it. then i would get all these weird issues with it. Need less to say cingular told me they messed it up. And gave me a new 8260 and no problems then on. So this is on cingular's behalf if its a cingular branded phone and i'm sure you can blame them. if its a Tmobile QD, well then i'm not sure on that part. i got the country code as well. but oddly i can receive text's fine.

i had that issue back in 1999 or around there.

wow..and its 2005 now and they still have it?

it sounds pretty close to it. i dunno tho. my problem was, i think aleast was because i was on TDMA i wasn't able to send a pre-config file to my phone for SMS. so my phone was confused. thats my personal assumption.

because i had a unbranded 8260 from bestbuy that wasn't locked at all.
